I'm actually more surprised Black Cat has stayed in the top 10! I was expecting it to plunge like a stone after the variant overloaded first issue. I do like the book though so I'm pleased.

"Not counting when Avengers Vs. X-Men double-shipped, July was the first time two X-Men comics finished 1-2 since August 2001. X-Men comics finishing in the top two slots was once incredibly common, back in the 1990s days of Uncanny X-Men and "adjectiveless" X-Men. Indeed, in the latter years of the 1990s it had come to be seen as symbolic of the market's malaise: literally nothing else in comics was going on that was interesting enough to unseat them. August 2001 was right when things were finally turning around."

I really hope the x-men are on their way back to a regular spot at the top.

Good good. The prophecy has been fulfilled and Hickman shall usher us into a new age of prosperity.

I get they wanted Hickman to have time plan his books but putting out obvious filler for several months never made sense sales wise, but I guess it worked out with how well the Hickman books are selling.

It really doesn't. Marvel still had to shell out money to make those books. And the low returns on those books still makes the decision hard to justify to higher ups.

The reality is that it's been 18 years. Since we had New X-Men, Uncanny, Ultimate and X-Treme in the top 4.

I can't imagine a more fitting book to earn the stop sales spot.

Also, and this is purely anecdotal, I noticed that my local comic shop ran very low on copies of House of X and Powers of X. They completely sold out of all variant covers. They had a very limited supply of the main issue. So it wasn't just an issue of stories overstocking on these books. They really did sell. I saw plenty of copies of Spider-Man and Batman on the racks. There was not nearly as much for the X-Books.

Additionally, I've been seeing a lot of anecdotes/complaints on Twitter and various forums about shops being sold out of HoX #2. So we're probably going to see a lot of reorder activity on that one.

I moved states, and shipping comics got a little more expensive, so I tried out 4 local comics shops. None of them had any issues of PoX/HoX. 2 of the shops are fairly large and popular, too.
