Glad to see Black Cat still up there. Not sure if it will last. Hoping more people give this title a shot. The book is Light hearted and fun. It’s pretty much the exact opposite of the other two events going heavy at the moment in The x verse and absolute carnage.

It will be heavily boosted by variant covers up to the 3rd issue.

Black Cat #1 took its place at the top of the list, thanks mainly to its variant covers. The first issue had a regular cover, four open-to-order variants, one of which was an Artgerm cover, a 1-in-10 cover, a 1-in-25 cover, a 1-in-50 cover, a 1-in-100 cover and a 1-in-200 cover. The second issue has a regular cover, a single open-to-order cover with a Carnage-ized theme, a 1-in-25 cover, a 1-in-50 cover and a 1-in-100 cover. With only half the variant covers, sales will drop but since there is still a 1-in-100 cover, sales should plummet. Black Cat #3 has a regular cover, a single open-to-order cover, a 1-in-25 cover, a 1-in-50 cover and a 1-in-100 cover.

The drop from the second to third issues won't reflect a change in the promotional push from the variant covers, since they have equivalent cover gimmicks with the only real difference being the art itself. Sometimes that can make a big difference, such as we see with Stanley "Artgerm" Lau's covers. Other times, the art itself matters far less than the ratios and other aspects which make the cover rarer. Black Cat #4, however, only has a regular cover, so this is when we'll likely see a drop caused by the lack of variant covers.

Black Cat being 8th isn't too shabby, helped by variants or not. Don't see her staying in top ten for long, in fact I'd be a bit surprised if issue 3 was in the top ten but it's still doing better than I'd expected so kudos to that. ASM being 3rd is pretty good as well so nice to see to Spidey related books in the top ten.

I'm somewhat worried about how Black Cat will do once the variants become less of a factor, but it's still great to see her in the top 10, and I hope the sales for her book keep steady and strong .

I wonder how many variants they'll supply for Mary Jane's mini/potential ongoing.

Ouch, that’s a big drop for ASM 26. Is the market oversaturated with too many Spider titles? I know ASM 25 had a boost with variants but numbers before that were much higher.

So just to compare I check Slotts ASM #25 giant sized issue and it was 113k as well, the next month his 26 was dropped to 62k. Spencer’s was 113k and 59k in same month.

With numbers so close I’m wondering if stores just used 2017 trends to guesstimate how much to order after a giant sized #25 special.
