Default Golden Age Air Wave (Larry Jordan) Appreciation

First appearance = Detective Comics #60 (February 1942)

And from Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe Vol. I (March 1985)

NOTE: Some alterations were made to the original entry to focus solely on the Golden Age version of Air Wave.

I love this character. He's my go to answer for "most underrated".

I only discovered Air Wave when I bought GREEN LANTERN #100 in 1977. But I always liked his name and costume. Never read any solo stories.

I first read a reprint of one of his stories in a 100-page issue of Superman (#245) my sister gave me back in 1972.

Another reprint I read was in an issue of World's Finest Comics I borrowed from her.

I wish he would have been the one brought back in the Green Lantern annual.

The awful end to a potentially great character: It was revealed that Larry Jordan was killed by a man he had once prosecuted as a district attorney. Joe Parsons was an escaped convict who took revenge by breaking into Jordan's home. Larry's costume malfunctioned as he tried to protect his family and he died from a shotgun wound to the chest.

Well, the groundwork for death of Larry Jordan was sort of set up a few years before that in Green Lantern #100 (January 1978):
