I wonder if anyone has ever tried to match Land's art to the actual porno he took it from.

Not much. Frank Tieri was questioned on Maggott since he's relatively popular now, and Tieri is the one who killed him. Tiieri responded that Maggott sucks and when he was working as an intern, there was hate-mail sent about Maggott, who at the time was one of the most hated characters. He notes that hardly anyone gave a crap about the character until he was killed off.

The thing about McLeod's answer is that it implies he's more okay with Sunspot being whitewashed than if he were made blacker.

He should have just stayed as he was, but it's interesting.

Its interesting(annoying) that he seems not to know zhit about Brazil...or black people

This is a confusing comment...are you denying a Brazilian person can have wavy hair?

All the man said was he wanted to make him distinct from designs of the time. Hello from Brazil, btw

He's not. But Sunspot looked more black at first, and the comment implied he didn't want him looking "too black" and did what he could to make him less so. So he got rid of his kinky hair and gave him wavy "Latino" hair. And that's pretty standard. Unless it's a villain, nobody of color gets to have kinky hair -it's either wavy or straight. Monet had bigger hair in Phalanx Covenant, and now it's bone straight, or occasionally wavy. But like Sunspot, she's another black character they made white/ European.

I don’t think it’s that controversial. He said Roberto shouldn’t just look African-American, which of course he isn’t cos he’s Brazilian. I’m sure the intent was that he’d have dark skin with wavy hair to suggest his mixed heritage.
