Default After Hickman, I want Al Ewing on X-Men

    Hulk shows he deserves it

And his other Avengers series shows he shares the love to other not so known characters

Nick Spencer should get it because

    A. He writes women the best and likes Emma

    B. He got cucked from his Ultimate X-Men plans

    C. Morning Glories does several X-Men concepts as well or better than X-Men

    D. He's just as much of a continuity nut as Ewing

    E. He would bring in more humor

    F. X-Twitter would bitch and moan, which would give me power

But that's years off from now. Ewing would be dope, too.

We still don't know who's getting X-Men books in wave 2. So Ewing won't be setting the tone for the line, but he might have a presence.

Yes, but if he makes the New Mutants the main X-Men, will people but it like they buy Immortal Hulk?

He won't be doing New Mutants, that's wave 1, and Brisson's on it.

More like three. That's around how long Hickman's run is planned for, that's around how long his Avengers was.

Hey, they could cowrite. And yes, his writing of Emma Frost during Secret Empire was one of the better aspects of that event. "No mutant will ever kneel to HYDRA."

Let's wait for Hickman to see what he does, and wait to see what Spencer does with Spider-Man, and also Ewing probably will get to continue his great considerably-longer-than-anyone-expected-it-to-last-at-the-start run on Immortal Hulk for at least 50 issues or so, maybe 100 if he's feeling up for it. He took a comic that had no reason to succeed and made it the benchmark. That kind of achievement will allow a sense of proprietorship on a title, at least until Ewing feels he's done enough with it.

Actually a good point. All of those titles have gotten off to phenomenal starts so far, and Spencer and Ewing are thus far keeping strong, so we probably should wait a little longer before starting to speculate on the next (great) run already. Still, speculation is fun.

Ewing is the obvious choice as the next Avengers writer, especially now that "Immortal Hulk" has given him his first hit. He was the obvious choice before, but the rap on him was always that his books didn't sell. I can't see any reason for them not to give it to him after Aaron is finished.

Ewing on the main Avengers book would be interesting, especially since stylistically he is so different from Aaron and his Avengers work is pretty different from what Aaron has been doing.

People disappointed the flagship is just the "Big Guns" would probably be happy with what Ewing would do, I imagine.

Granted, as far as who the "competition" would be to take it over...I'm not sure Nick Spencer would want it. He seems like someone who would want a satellite Avengers title then the main one.

Donny Cates is already on a team book, but assuming his workload opens up I don't know if Avengers would be a good fit for him. Although a possibility he's taking over Thor from Aaron.

Would they put Gerry Duggan on the flagship? I don't know.

Dan Slott's workload is too hectic for him to be on the flagship in my opinion, at least without a dedicated co-writer.

The great conundrum is that everyone who I want spearheading Avengers has already written a ton of satellite Avengers books. Plus Spencer was already leading the Avengers line during ANAD and I don't want him on something that ships super fast because he needs time to finish old stuff. So I guess for Avengers I'd want Ewing? It would take a sick roster to really jazz me up, though. Duggan would be good, too. Slott would have to commit to it 100%, but I wanna see his Moon Knight and creator-owned things (plus FF is going to be like 5 years.) Iffy on Cates, don't like Guardians. Maybe by the time the chairs switch again, Marvel will be able to send in a SEAL team and kidnap Snyder.

Spencer was really spearheading the Marvel Universe period.

Ewing would probably do a more "interesting" roster then we get for Aaron's run. There'd probably be a few expected members but probably some surprises.

Snyder with Marvel would be so hilarious. Like, I can kind of imagine it, but at the same time can't .
