DC: The New Frontier
Tales of the Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: Space Sector 2814
Green Lantern by Geoff Johns Omnibus
I think that'd do, and probably works out to about 7 books
The three Sector 2814 trades.
The Green Lantern Corps (80s series)
The Road Back
Mosaic
Emerald Twilight/New Dawn
Those more or less encompass the best GL stories, in my opinion.
The Green Lantern Corps and Mosaic aren't collected (at least I don't believe GLC is completely collected), but anyone with an eBay account should be able to collect them without too much trouble.

1. Tales of the Green Lantern Corps vol. 1 - the great 1981 miniseries by Barr/Wein/Station + the best GLC short stories
2. Green Lantern by Geoff Johns Omnibus vol. 1
3. Silver Age GL vol. 1 - the "original" origin for the Green Lantern mythology - Hal Jordan, Sinestro, the Guardians, Qward, Abin Sur, Hector Hammond, etc.
4. Tales of the GLC vol. 2 - the remainder of the alien stories
5. The Road Back - the best use of the multiple Earth Lanterns concept
Most of these are stand-alone stories, or new starting points - with the exception of the Johns run. Hopefully Morrison's run ends up being on par with his Superman and Batman work. If so, I'd add that.
The Secret Origin of the Guardians! (GL #40)
This is the Way the World Ends! (GL #63)
Hard-Traveling Heroes (Hal & Ollie)
Emerald Dawn (6-issue miniseries)
Final Night (4-issue miniseries)
Funeral for a Hero (Kyle's GL #81)
The Brave and the Bold (Waid/Kitson)

It matters to me that all eras are represented, so if I only had 7--
Just like with the Flash I'd start with the GOLDEN AGE GREEN LANTERN ARCHIVES, Vol. 1, to get the first and earliest Green Lantern stories from 1940-41.
Then I'd move on to GREEN LANTERN: THE SILVER AGE, Vol. 1, to get the first and earliest Hal stories from 1959-61.
Then to GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW for the Neal Adams early 70s era.
Then I'd like to space out the remaining 4 fairly evenly so what could we do from the following periods?
The early 80s
The mid 90s
The late 2000s
The late 2010s
I'd go with my 7 favorite ones I guess:
Green Lantern Rebirth
Sinestro Corps War
The Road Back really up to issue 25 when the book splits into 3 titles
The First Kyle extended arc From Emerald Twilight thru Green Lantern #0 up to Parallax View
Hal Jordan and the GLC: Vendetti makes my list I really think he finished strong really loved the Zod stuff
Mosaic
the 6 or so issues of the Green Lantern Corps Quarterly to hit the various alien stories though my favorite tales of the GLC was Green Magic.
Emerald Dawn
Emerald Dawn II
Mosaic
Green Lantern #46 - 64
The Final Night
Green Lantern Rebirth
Green Lantern Corps Recharge #1 - 5

I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.
