The one ring from LOTR doesn't even come close to some of the other things. For DC, you'd probably want the Miracle Machine. Or the Sword of Superman.

    Too large I think.

I'll accept the Miracle Machine's size, but the heart looks to be room-sized.

Hmmmmm, upon rereading The End, it appears you're right. I withdraw my previous vote. I'm not sure how powerful the Sword of Superman is, so I'll cast my vote for the IG.

I dunno if I'd count the Lighthawk wings as an ITEM, since they're mainly some kind of third dimensional expression of like fifth dimensional power or some such. Maybe the tenchi-ken, since it seems able to tap that power.

Madoka Kaname's Soul Gem (Anything that can turn its user into a concept and rewrite the laws of its universe is pretty stronk)

    The Triforce (Legend of Zelda)
The Star Rod ( Paper Mario)
The Monado (Full power only, Xenoblade)
The Stone of Aja (+The Stone Mask, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure)
    The Death Note (Death Note)

Pretty much, the original Infinity Gauntlet or the UN are as good as it gets in hand-held form.

Somebody mentioned the Well of Ascension in Mistborn - but that thing is a small lake, and not at all portable, so it wouldn't apply, even if it was strong enough.

Marvel does appear to have the market cornered on powerful artifacts. I would imagine the #1 spot would be between a god-maker like the Gauntlet and a wish-granter like the miracle machine, both of which could alter reality on a large scale.

Using that logic, the Fairy Godmother's wand from the Disney Cinderalla canon would be up there, considering it was used in a sequel to alter the course of history. Items like that and the Triforce seem to more localized than universal, but the Triforce has been used to wish for another Triforce, so that could get hairy.

Merely altering the course of history is nothing compared to what things like the IG or Miracle Machine could do. Thanos blinked out half the universe with a snap of his fingers using the IG. The wand from Cinderella is a cheap gimmick compared to that. The triforce, in the grand scheme of things when it comes to cosmic artifacts..isn't that potent.

Doomgiver and Dragnipur should at least get honorable mentions.
