Default What is your favourite DC comics short story?

I was rereading the nuclear winter special from last year and found myself enjoying the Catwoman story in particular by Cecil Castellucci and it got me wondering, what are your favourite DC short stories. These can be from holiday special, landmark issues or other collections, no one shots though, or single issues or annuals!

"A Dream of A Thousand Cats" in Sandman was pretty cool. It's in the Dream Country TPB.

Hard to choose, there are so many. But one of the best is "Who's Sorry Now?" SUGAR AND SPIKE No. 4 (October-November 1956),
reprinted in SUGAR AND SPIKE 97, BEST OF DC 28 and SUGAR AND SPIKE ARCHIVES.

"Two of a Kind" from Batman: Black and White #1 (first volume). Even in black & white, I found this story most enjoyable.

Before I reply, are you talking about a one-and-done, or a story that doesn't fill the whole book and isn't the title feature?

Rather than rack my brain for storylines, I'm going to mention a few favorite mini-series:
-- "Dr Mid-Nite" by Matt Wagner. I still miss Pieter Cross
-- "Green Lantern Corps" - the one where Hal and the Corps took on Nekron
-- "The Dark Knight" (or "Return of the Dark Knight" - it was four issues, so that qualifies as "short," no?)

I don't know if this counts, but probably one of those Hostess ads from the '80s.

    EDIT:
Okay, so I didn't read the opening post before I posted the above. I guess that wouldn't count. Um... so a short story arc? Maybe Batman: Blind Justice. I don't know. I also love the 4 part "Mosaic" arc in the 1990 Green Lantern series.
