I love the Rictor redesign. God dammit I WISH some xmen would get flamboyant again. This color blocking bullshit is for sad old heteros.

I am into the facial hair and piercing! Ric needs more distinct features especially when sharing panel time with Gambit (who is more consistently colored darker-skinned than Ric, which is annoying).

Ric has never been colored with dark skin as far as I can tell, and sincerely I prefer it that way. Not every Latin character has to be colored as dark skinned, there are plenty of light skinned latinos in the real world, and it helps to keep characters from devolving into stereotypes, especially with a character with a german surname (Richter) (and there is a large German community in Guadalajara where he is from, so it would make sense he is partly German).

Is the same reason why I like that we have characters like Ric and Roberto, because they break from the stereotypes that Americans tend to have about latin people. Latin is not an ethnic group, is a cultural grouping, and having a mulato character in Roberto and a character that is not depicted as a stereotypical Mexican is actually very positive (Ric has also been consistently shown with brown hair instead of black, and yes, there are many Latinos that do not have black hair).

This Northstar redesign is cute. The costume is a bit too busy but I like the mustache and shaggy hair.

But almost anything would look better to me than her tired 90s uniform. I don't hate it the 90s look see avatar, but I don't want to see it back in what is supposed to be a new era for the X-Men.
