I really disliked that. If I'm not mixing it up with something else. Made them look incompetent. Happened off-panel. And had Bruce value Damian over the others and not regard them as his children.

There is an extended preview (basically, two more pages than the sneak peek we had earlier) : https://www.dccomics.com/reader/#/comics/447104

It does not ontain huge spoiler, but if you really don't want to be spoiled, don't click on it.

Also, those who will click on it, please, to not post the pictures in this thread for those who don't want to see them.

I have and it is well hmmm I can't say without ruining the surprise. I'll only say - worst-case scenario or damn close to it (for Damian and Alfred).

Way back when Dick was shot I said that if King wants to incapacitate someone it should be someone who's not headlining two other titles right now, and I suggested something similar.

Then when Heroes in Crisis happened I said that it's a waste of time killing hero characters, especially someone with a book, because that means no future revenue for a year, just for a six months hype, and it wastes the readers time waiting for them to be revived.

This one doesn't headline any book, make sense for Bane's goal, make sense to the story progression since now the Batfam can move in, the event actually hasn't been done in years, and can lead to interesting stories while we're waiting for a revival.

So specifically on what's happening, I have no complaint

My only problem is what people already complained and pointed out since the last issue. What leads to this point.

People are going to be angry but not only towards King but also towards a character already perceived as problematic

    spoilers:
SOOOO Damian saves a citizen and his pet from getting killed by scarecrow and zsasz. Find Thomas Wayne Batman. Thomas initially tries to reason with him. Damian(I'm trying to be unbias here but...) acts all arrogant and throws the usual verbal insults. Thomas tells Damian that Alfred suggested the bat fam not come for fear of his life so that Damian wouldn't try to invade and get himself killed. Thomas outclasses him and it sounds like he really didn't wanna fight Damian. Damian still with the verbal banter, Thomas puts him down hard with 2 kicks. Damian knocked out is tied up in a chair. Alfred is talking in the background, pleading that Bane doesn't kill him in front of the boy. Thomas is also regretful of this outcome, but it is not his city, it is the city of Bane and Bane snaps Alfred's neck. Damian is crying and Thomas tries to sympathize with him, but tells him now that Damian is the hostage replacing Alfred. And Thomas ends it off hoping that the Bat fam wont be as childish as Damian was and makes the same mistake.

    spoilers:
Hmm, I could see Damian being Thomas’ downfall. Ultimately would he let Bane kill his grandson? I’m not sure I believe he would.

    spoilers:
It’s not about what Damian considers him, it’s about how Thomas sees him. Ultimately I don’t think Thomas is going to be able to let Bane really hurt Damian. Remember Thomas is the guy who became Batman after his similar aged son was murdered in front of him. And now here’s Damian, the son of his son, another child who shares his blood and looks like that little boy he failed to save all those years ago.

true. i doubt the others would've got the same calmness and rationality that damian got

Actually, rereading a certain page, you're right man. spoilers:
thomas does care for damian. 'you are my grandson, my blood.'

Unless already invested in hating on that character, I imagine people will go for the soft target and blame King directly.

King makes it pretty easy to hate on himself too. I mean he has such a huge hard on for shock porn that he is going to rile up fans. He can't be surprised at fans' reactions at this point.

No, I imagine he probably predicted the killing of a beloved character would not be popular, but what does it matter to him if he's planning on bringing Alfred back in three to four issues time?

And people shriek at and about him so much at this stage about every topic from the sensible to the absurd that he probably doesn't hear it any more. It's just noise. If people are going to lose their shit over Bruce Wayne eating with a knife and fork or Selina beating Talia in a fight, you might as well swing for the fences and go for the big moves.

But King is going to bemoan about how much hate he gets and so on like all writers do now when they do things they know will rile up readers. He falls back on shock value probably more than any writer in recent memory. It isn't a style I tend to like, but that is just his style.

Though why would you think he would bring back Alfred in his run? He could, but a while back he gave interviews about how he had to go to DC/WB's upper management in order to do something. I'm assuming that something was killing Alfred. Then he said he wanted it to have an impact lasting like 15 years.

The only knife and fork thing I've seen was the burger, and people like me saying it was stupid (not "losing their shit"). Not liking something (and saying so) is not the same as "the state of being pushed over the edge of sanity and having a complete and utter freak out or mental/emotional breakdown." And I honest-to-God didn't realize that was King. It was one back issue I read, and I didn't look at the writer, and had it in my head it was older and from pre-King days. I only started looking at writer names (for anything) in the past six months to a year, and don't usually look unless I see a drastic change in a short period of time (then I check to see if we've changed writers).

Which is again, really dumb, and meaningless and dull, like I said. That's not me "losing my shit" - it's expressing a sane, rational, negative opinion, even if it's one you don't agree with.

And Darkcrusade25, Damain sounds pretty cool in those excerpts to me, while Thomas sounds like psychopath (which is consistent for him).
