    The comic book hero called Uncle Sam first appeared in Quality Comics' National Comics #1, cover-dated July 1940.


    His final Golden Age appearance as a feature appears to be in National Comics #45 (December 1944). Then, nearly thirty years later, Sam and several other former Quality Comics characters would be brought into DC Comics continuity in the pages of Justice League of America #107 (September-October 1973).
