Default Could Rogue and Mimic (Calvin Rankin) be related?

Rogue's family original last name was never revealed, I think. But in X-men Noir, her full name was Anne-Marie Rankin, which is the same last name as Mimic's Calvin Rankin. They both have Power mimicry and could be related, long lost cousins or something. This could set up fun storylines: Sinister is interested in the Rankins bloodline and subconsciously mind control Gambit into falling for Rogue so that Sinister can study their Progeny. This eventually leads to the creation of Chimeras, like Cardinal or Rasputin. It would be a thing to do, don't ya think? Plus, it would take the focus off the Summers-Grey clan, which has been going on ad nauseam since like, forever.

Maybe, along the line, it can be revealed that Hope's bio mom or dad were of the Rankin clan, too!! That would explain Hope's similar powerset and natural draws to Rogue. Or Perhaps, Hope's mother was a genetic experiment by Sinister to capture the Phoenix, but she ran away and have Hope in a podunk Alaska town before Sinister could have Hope.

    What do Y'all think?

Could be fun. But now I'm trying to think if there was everan occasion where either of them were on the same book. They were on the Legacy "team" book right? Or am I remembering that wrong.

No, you're right. It was only for like a couple issues, but they were trying to help Omega

Yeah, Rogue's civilian name nowadays is Anna-Marie LaBeau, but we don't know what her maiden name was before she married Gambit. She did go by Anna Raven at one point, but that was just an alias.

Rogue doesn't copy powers she takes fractions of them or the entire thing from a person.

yup. He's a mutate. Or maybe they retconned it so that the lab accident triggered his X-gene.

"The original Mimic as created by Stan Lee and Werner Roth was not a mutant, but received his powers after breathing in some gas during an explosion in his father's laboratory. Later X-Men writer Scott Lobdell claimed it merely awakened and enhanced Mimic's latent mutant powers, but this point is never made in the comics themselves and remains a point of discussion."
