I guess the best example of what i’d like us to go for is how The Seven Samurai was remade as a western.
Only, instead of choosing new actors, swap out different characters, to make something that works.
It sounds weird I know, but it’s not too hard and kinda fun. Kicking things off...
THE WATCHMEN, remade as a send up of Urban/Blaxploitation movies:
HANCOCK-
is immortal and, like Dr. Manhattan, the only metahuman on earth. His presence has been causing political upheaval for decades now.
FOXY BROWN and COLOMBIANA-
are Hancock’s past and present ass kicking lovers, standing in for Silk Spectres I and II. One knew, and one’s learned, how hard it is to love a virtual god.
SHAFT and SHAFT-
uncle and nephew, as mentor and protege Nite Owls I and II. They’ve both worked w. Hancock, and seen first hand how distant he’s become.
BLACK DYNAMITE-
like The Comedian, he’d long turned from the heroic life and started working for “The Man”. His mysterious murder kicks things off.
UNDERCOVER BROTHER-
has been on the run for years, acting more like a Conspiracy Brother; like Rorschach, questioning everything. He’s investigating Black Dynamite’s death.
BRUCE LEROY-
master of The Glow, considered to be the ultimate physical specimen. He has a twisted plan to neutralize Hancock and save the world. He can also do a bullet catch, even better than Ozymandias.
