Indeed and my kid brother love it.

And it has Robin who doesn't go by "Dick".

I really hope most of the fan drawings I've seen on the YJ subreddit are from Gen-Z'ers... for a couple reasons
It's the Dynamic Duo! Batman and Robin!... and Red Robin and Red Hood and Nightwing and Batwoman and Batgirl and Orphan and Spoiler and Bluebird and Lark and Gotham Girl and Talon and Batwing and Huntress and Azreal and Flamebird and Batcow?

Since when could just anybody do what we trained to do? It makes it all dumb instead of special. Like it doesn't matter anymore.

Even characters like Sherlock and King Arthur went through changes.

Grayson is hardly anywhere close or relevent like the characters I mentioned and big part of any character's appeal is having cool name/appearance which he lacks in both. So, he isn't "ageless" or "timeless" and if you want him to survive for another 30 years, they need to make some serious changes to him.
That is why I say fundamental things about characters don't change. Of course there will be some change and growth over time, that is what updating your storyline and storytelling is all about. You can't write the character the same way you were writing him in 40s. That doesn't require a name change. You don't rename Sherlock, you keep the name, you keep the core aspects of his character and give the rest a modern twist to update him. (and Dick Grayson is the name, Richard started getting thrown in more lately due to the problems some have with Dick I guess, but his "name" has been Dick Grayson for years).

Dick's popularity isn't about having a cool name (was "Dick Grayson" EVER a "cool" name really?). As for his look, dont consider the Robin look to be "cool" myself though can see how the bright costume might appeal to kids, and wouldn't call the first Disco-Nightwing costume cool either. The simple black & blue Nightwing one is one of the best costumes out there though. As for Dick's own looks. Like most super-heroes he is "handsome", yes. and DC has been playing the "sexy" thing lately, but wouldn't sat that is the real appeal of the character, actually for a real fan of the character him being relegated to "pretty sexy boy" is rather frustrating. If a characters best selling points are "cool name" and "cool looks" that is a doomed character to begin with as lacks depth and has nothing real to offer....

Dick's character traits are the stuff that stand out with him. He is fun to read because he seems to have fun doing what he does and one can feel the energy coming from him - part of that is his acrobatic skills and circus background of course- which I guess going to end up being a bigger debate in ages to come as circuses become "outdated" and absolete... He is relatable where he is not an all-mighty God that makes no mistakes but can make mistakes like anyone else and then makes up for them. He doesn't bottle up all his emotions. He is one of the rare heroes whose "growth" we witness from a boy to a man. He feels "intimate", like you really know this guy, what he is thinking, what he is feeling. He is an all around decent guy who people trust and like. That, And he can still kick ass and look mighty fine while doing it. His name has never ever gotten in the way of all that.

The reason he isn't as "relevant" is he tends to get overshadowed by Batman. Even now, major decisions about what will happen to his character in comics is decided by what is going on in the Batman. His movie is not likely to be made as Batman movies are the higher priority. He gets horrid treatment and crappy storlines and is not allowed to really go out on his own and shine. That is what needs to change. The treatment of him as 2nd rate Batman. Which, again, has nothing to do with his name. Let him have his movie (with a well written screenplay!) and have real talent in it, for example, and we will see if his popularity starts to rise up among the younger generation or not (look at what Tom Hiddleston managed to do for Loki). Let him have as much spotlight and "shining moments" as the big names where he is treated as an equal and allowed to show he is highly capable and brings something of his own to the table, and we will see if younger generation comic book readers take more interest in him. As it is, no one wants to read about a hobo slumming it in Blüdhaven whining the entire issue about not wanting to be a hero. No matter what they are named.

Between Titans and Young Justice etc he is at least getting some love now in other mediums so that is promising.

Yep, there were "babies" when the show started. YJ fanbase isn't Gen-Z.

No, they were children when the show started. It was aimed exactly at GenZ. Because it was a kids cartoon. When they were kids.

Well, whichever generation they are, I've seen enough YJ fans saying their childhood crush is Jesse McCartney Robin and proceed to have Jesse McCartney Nightwing as their current crush, same with Kaldur. So they're young enough for me.

While I don’t think changing “Dick” is necessary, and i even think there can be an argument made that “Dick” actually makes his name memorable (cause it is kind of funny these days). At the same time though I don’t think it is that sacred. I could see a TV executive wanting to change it, as it is very dated and invokes jokes they might not want. And if they did call him Rick or Rich instead while they did a new kick ass TV show or movie with him, I don’t think it would really matter. With something like that even I think the transition could even gain traction. Though other media adaptations so far seem to be ok with Dick interesting enough. Even the cartoons.

But to do it in a laughably shitty comic, with bad dated and out of touch creators, and bad dated and out of touch ideas. Who struggle to find any audience these days let alone new audiences. It’s was only going to back fire.

The current generation barely reads comics and generally only cares about superheroes in movies.

If you want kids to care about Dick, make a successful movie. Which again has nothing to do with the name.

Neither Dick or Nightwing is catchy or cool names like Batman/Bruce or Spider-Man/Peter.
Peter is also slang for penis so why is Dick have to change his? Because it's more overt?

Gen-Z started in the mid 90s. I'm gen-Z at 21 and I watch Young Justice, want the trunks back and think Titans (most of season 1) is pretty garbage. I don't have that pesky nostalgia that ruins the industry or whatever. Gen-Z age range is 4-24. That's a pretty big margin.

I think you need to take a second look at your generations.

Really? Wow, are they ironic hipsters or something? Surprised anyone chooses to go by Dick.

Also, Peter may be slang for penis too, but it isn't considered as vulgar/rude/crude as Dick, and doesn't get used as much. Least not in the porn I watch anyways.
Also, people are actually named Peter, people tend to only be nicknamed Dick. Names=/=nicknames.

And people who are that unwilling to let a nickname go are also kind of too sensitive too.

You're 21? Holy crap you're younger than me (32)! For some reason your posts always made me assume you were older, like 40/50 something.

It's not really a nick name when that's what he primarily goes as. That's like calling someone named Bill, who has gone by Billy his whole life, William all of a sudden.

I can think of arguments against Dick, but none in favor of Ric. Which is a terrible name.
