Default Best comic book movie villain

Who was the greatest live action adaptation of a comic book villain?

    Thanos?

    Joker?

    Ozymandias etc etc

It depends what you mean by ‘greatest’.

If you mean ‘most faithful’ then that’s one debate. I’d probably say D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk.

But there are screen adaptations of villains that are actually more interesting than the comic book versions and overall probably exceed them, which is another interpretation. Killmonger, Cottonmouth, Ultron, Penguin (Gotham), Shadow King... that’s just off the top of my head.

"Greatest" is up to your own personal interpretation =)

Make your case! Fisk was a good call.

He's a video game villain, though.

I nominate Tony Stark, who jackassed at least half a dozen villains into being.

I disagree. Obadiah Stane was evil to begin with considering he was hiring men to murder Tony, Ivan Vanko was pissed at Tony's dad, Killian was jackassed into being (1), Loki was more Thor's fault, Ultron was more a mistake trying to protect the world (and if we count that, he was working with Bruce so he gets a half-point), and Thanos jackassed himself into being.

So he jackassed 1 villain into existence, 1 1/2 if you want to be generous.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

I constantly return to these 4 characters. So it's probably one of them for me.

    Dr. Octopus from Spider-man 2
    Magneto (Ian McKellan version)
    Joker (Heath Ledger version)
    MCU Loki

The title asked specifically for movie villains so I'm being pedantic about that to limit my choices.

Otherwise I might throw in D'Nofrio's Wilson Fisk I guess.

Eh, I made a mistake with the title honestly. I'm happy with any live action version. =)

Comic book wise: Dr Doom, Thanos and Joker are up there, Doom becoming god, Thanos taking over the universe a few times for feats. My favorite comic book villain is The Joker. He’s truly Batman’s nemesis and with the right writer he’s terrifying.

Movie wise: Thanos was an amazing villain, Joker was another bad ass in his many incarnations Batman 1989, the dark knight, and from what I hear Joker 2019
