Assuming they resign AJ Green all they have to do is upgrade the offensive line some. Green and Boyd make for a great duo of receivers. Joe Mixon is a quality RB. Get some offensive line protection for Burrow and he is in a good spot. The defense may suck but the focus year one is to develop Burrow.

The goodwill of drafting Burrow if he works it right would be through the roof until his rookie contract expires dude begins his real NFL career.

Question is, what can you get for Dalton at this point? Surely a couple of seconds maybe? 2 and a 3? I've always thought Dalton was better than Tannehill but a bad team taints talent so...
Over at NFL.Com , Bucky Brooks brought up that Bill Belichick may send a 3rd rd pick to the Bengals to possibly trade for Dalton this off season. To be the stop gap possibly if the Patriots decide to move on from Tom Brady. That Dalton won't be the long term guy , just a guy for a season or two while they get the next long term QB ready.

The Bengals have issues all over the team really. To run things down...

    - AJ Green hasn't been the same AJ Green he once was. Green missed half of 2018 and all of 2019 due to injuries. In fact he never could return due to an injury issue he had all of 2019. Its a big question mark if Green can be the same WR he once was from 2011-2017. The Bengals may have to look at replacing him since he turns 32 this season. Getting a good WR to pair with Boyd needs to happen.

    - Offensive line issues is a big one. The team has for the last 2 seasons paid for letting one of their key OT's leave in free agency. As a whole they gave up 48 sacks last year.

    - Defensively the team ranked near the bottom in stopping the run and pass. So adding to this LB , DT and CB/Safety's could be something to look at. Carlos Dunlap who led the team in sacks (9) will turn 31. So adding some players to this should be key.

In all the only real strength the team has is at RB with Mixon. If they can get a good 2nd WR , draft offensive line and defense the team can rebound. But its a big question mark.

Two impact players retired today, one expected the other not.

Antonio Gates announced his retirement today, after not playing in 2019.

Carolina LB Luke Kuechly has announced his retirement from the NFL at age 28.

Like an Andrew Luck , Luke Kuechly is leaving the game due to injury issues. He had suffered multiple concussions and shoulder ones too. He's the 2nd player to retire from that draft class.

I'm thankful. Like, I've never been scared for an active player in the CTE era as much as I am for Luke Kuechly. Not just for the number of concussions, but the severity.

I agree. I'm glad Kuechly put his health ahead of his career.

It is too bad that things had to end so early for Luke Kuechly but from his career with Boston College and the Panthers, he had a fantastic career.

8 seasons in the league, 7 Pro Bowls, and a Super Bowl trip is a hell of a resume. I don't think it's HoF worthy, but it would have been had he played another four years.

He will likely go in ala Patrick Willis . 2 great players who retired in their prime due to injury issues.

Antonio Gates. Raise a glass to Antonio Gates. One of the best.

They really missed him this year, I think. HoFer for sure, even as an older player.

Larry deserves any accolades he can get. The guy might have eclipsed Jerry Rice if he had the same caliber of QB for as long.
