The Eagles finish off the Giants 34-17 to clinch NFC Least and will host the winner of tonight’s game between the Niners and Seahawks.

The last game brutally closed the season for a host of teams.

Giants, Daniel Jones clearly was a reach and fumbles nearly ever game and couldn't even hold up his end to play spoiler against the Eagles.

Dallas was ridiculous throwing up 44 points in an 8-8 season. Browns ended on a whimper at Cinci, Texans are in the playoffs but cant feel real comfortable in that losing effort against the Tacks. Crableg kid and the Bucs prolly getting a divorce and yes the Colts got branded by the Jags. Worst 4th quarter team all season by a long shot and I'm fine with not having to look at Brisett's face until training camp.

Annnd New England ate a fat one, it was ugly too, gloriously so. 'Hail to the Dolphis' Andy Reid said.

Just got an alert that Freddie Kitchens was fired after the 6-10 Browns miserably failed to live up to all the preseason hype.

The Dolphins finished 5-11 after many expected them to go winless. They managed to win games against the last two Super Bowl winners.

I feel like plenty of the blame should fall onto Baker Mayfield, but the team as a whole was an undisciplined mess.

Tampa Bay should let him walk in free agency and take what would likely be a 3rd round compensatory pick down the road for letting him go... if someone's dumb enough to take him.

Well Winston set the record for pick 6's , breaking the one Matt Schaub had. And what makes it worse is ..Schaub was a 3rd rd QB who really didn't have huge expectations as a starter. Where as Winston has that since he went #1 or #2 overall in 2015. The fact Winston has played 5 seasons and continues to make terrible decisions on the field throwing Ints and more is more astounding as while in KC Pat Mahomes grew even more as a QB in his 2nd full year of a starter. So there is regression there.

Why pay a QB who turned the ball over 30+ times in a season and likely helped the Bucs finish at 7-9 this season $20+ million guaranteed ? If you want a bridge QB to get that 2020 draft pick ready then you can sign someone awhile like Case Keenum or Teddy Bridgewater to be a bridge. If you want an all-pro QB that likely could run the system 2-3 seasons til the next QB gets ready then Phillip Rivers.

But why would a team pay that price to just have a bridge QB ? Its not like Winston is gonna turn it suddenly around. He's been in the league for 5 seasons and his decision making got worse as we saw. So why exactly keep a bridge QB that really struggles badly Sure he threw for 5,000+ yards buts when your team is behind due to so many Ints etc , of course your gonna get a lot of passing yards.

So yeah , time to move on. Bring in a guy to bridge like Rivers , Manning , Keenum or Tannehill. Then have your young QB learning and ready to start.

    NFL News and stats...

    - In what could be final games for a couple players as retirement and teams rebuilding , these are the career numbers for them right now.

    Larry Fitzgerald : 1,378 Receptions - 17,083 yards - 120 TD's (2nd all-time in career receptions and receiving yards)
    Frank Gore : 3,548 carries - 15,347 yards - 79 TD's ---- 468 receptions - 3,896 yards -- 18 TD's. (3rd all-time career rushing)
    Adrian Peterson : 3,036 carries -- 14,216 yards - 111 TD's ----- 289 receptions - 2,365 yards --- 6 TD's . (5th all-time in career rushing)

    - Jerry Jones has said there is no time timetable right now on a Jason Garrett decision. But there has to be changes made . Its been said Richards who does the defensive play calls for Dallas is a hot coaching prospect and has learned under Peter Carroll and Rod Marinalli the last couple seasons.

    - NFL.Com released the 1-20 Draft Order. The Bengals have the #1 pick and the NY Giants have the 4th. If a team wants Chase Young like the Giants do with a terrible pass rush then they may have to make a move up the draft to get him by trading.

    - Numbers wise today a few marks fell. Christian McCaffrey for Carolina became the 3rd RB in NFL history (after Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk) to get 1,000+ yards receiving and rushing in a season. Julio Jones notched another great season as usual and pushed himself on up the career yards list. His 78 yards receiving now has him at 12,125 career yards. He moved up 2 places on career yards list for 25th all-time.

    - Ron Rivera is the top contender to the Washington Redskins job according to reports.

Wow, hell of an end to 9ers @ Hawks. Down to an official review to determine the last play.
Hawks drop another at home. 9ers are a bull of a 1 seed.

My Eagles will host Seattle in the first round of the playoffs this weekend. I know fans have grumbled about how a team from a weak sister division shouldn't host a playoff game, still, winning a division SHOULD count for something. At least Philly finished above .500 at 9-7, back in 2011, the Seahawks topped NFC West at 7-9, but they won a first round playoff game, meaning regular season records don't count for squat once the postseason begins. Will my Birds, banged up beyond all recognition on offense go far? Who knows, but anything is possible.

By the by, here's a stat SUPERE missed: Carson Wentz became the first QB in Eagles history to pass for 4,000 yards.

I'll add that Kyler Murray became only the 6th QB to run for 500 yards and throw for 3,500 yards in a season, and was only the 2nd rookie to do so. (The other rookie being Cam Newton. The other 4 players to do so are Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, Daunte Culpepper, and DeShaun Watson.

Not bad company. Culpepper's the only one in there who doesn't seem great in hindsight.

Apparently Ron Rivera is going to be the next coach of the Redskins. I'm guessing Redskins fans are lukewarm with the hire. The bigger news is Bruce Allen really does seem to have been completely cut from the organization. Not demoted, or regulated elsewhere, but 100% gone. Very surprised Snyder pulled the trigger, since word on the street was that Bruce always had a place with the Redskins due to his pops' legacy. Obviously Dan Snyder is still the owner, but at least the fanbase only has to deal with one slimeball instead of two.

And I'm guessing Arians didn't dust off his saddle to oversee a full rebuild. Winston will be kept another year under that 5th year option. If he improves in Arians' system (which takes time to learn), then great. If not, cut ties and move on.
