That's assuming someone would give up something for a WR coming off a ankle injury who hasn't proven he is healthy enough to contribute anything this season. The compensatory pick (which would be a 3rd rounder) they would get for losing Green to free agency will likely be better than anything they could get from another team for an injured wide receiver. Who is going to give up a 1st or 2nd round pick for a half season of a receiver who may not be ready to play for a chunk of that half season?

NE, SEA, and NO offered a 7th rounder, FWIW.

Tells me keeping him was a better option.

I didnt know the offers were that low. The news here hasnt been telling us what was offered. But they did have other players besides green they could have traded.

Trent Williams ends his holdout with Washington just before the trade deadline arrived, so he will get credit for service time.

Two kickers got the boot today. Pats released Mike Nugent and it looks like Nick Folk will be the replacement. The Falcons released Matt Bryant, with Younghoe Koo set to be the new kicker there.

The most comical non-traded player was Darius Slay from the Detroit Lions. The Lions thought they had the 2nd coming of Jalen Ramsay and demanded compensation nearly to what Ramsay got the Jaguars. Its said teams refused this because they clearly don't view Slay on that level and the Lions over estimated his value trade wise. So now they got nothing after trying to trade him.

Some teams salary cap wise were unable to move players. Janoris Jenkins and Josh Norman's salary cap numbers was just too much to trade for. So no deals happened for players that the teams wanted to dump salary wise.

Then there was Trent Williams who finally is reporting to Redskins because they couldn't trade him. Due to like the Lions demanded "key players" as well as draft picks in exchange for Williams. The Browns was interested but once the Redskins wanted Denzel Ward the team backed off. Other teams said **** NO to the Redskins and now they have a disgruntled player who doesn't want to be there.

The Bears keeping their kicker is news to a degree. The guy has been ok overall, I guess, but that was a pretty big miss last Sunday.

According to the trade report on the Dolphins trade for Aqib Talib ...well Dolphins fans ...he's not playing this season. In fact his injury will likely keep him out the rest of the year. By trading for Talib the team acquired another draft pick. This time a 5th rd pick.

The Dolphins will enter the 2020 NFL Draft with 14-15 draft picks as it stands right now. No idea how many conditional picks they will receive .

Kinda felt bad for Dalton being benched after so many years. But then I saw that he is still going to make 13 million for carrying a clipboard so that passed.

I saw an estimate that they could be looking at 5-7 comp picks, maybe 9.

Does anyone know how many draft picks the Bengals have coming up?

Miami will be major players in draft. Its just a shame they don't have a Jimmy Johnson type who can step in and work that draft. If anyone remembers Johnson rebuilt Miami's defense when he came in through the draft in a normal way. He didn't have the draft ammo as we see now. He did admit one trade he wished he could have made was Dan Marino. That he floated the idea to the owner who shut it down and Johnson decided to try and build a team around Marino.

But the whole idea of being a team around a mid 30's QB was just un-Johnson like. He built his Dallas team around a young QB named Troy Aikman .

Speaking of Dallas , Jerry Jones tried to trade the 2020 1st rd pick to the NY Jets to get Jamal Adams . But the Jets wanted more for the trade.

Bengals seem to be a bit chaotic with the inmates wanting to run the house. AC Green says he wants to get a long term contract to stay, not a 1 year deal or franchise tag and thinks franchise tags should be eliminated for veterans beyond their initial contract. He wants to stay in Cinci though, as he is "happy there even though they don't win" and doesn't want to wind up on another team in a situation he is not happy with.

Meanwhile And Dalton is upset, not that he got benched, but because they waited until a few hours before the trade deadline to inform them so he and his agent didn't have enough time to arrange a trade to get him out of Cincinnati to be able to start elsewhere. He is focused on helping the team now but when the offseason comes you can bet he is going to try to get out of Cinci. Now whether any other team would want him at his salary or as a starter is another matter.

So your quarterback is pouting because the team didn't give him a chance to arrange a ticket out of time and your star wide reciever doesn't have winning as a priority as long as he is in a comfortable situation. These are your team leaders, any wonder why the Bengals haven't been relevant in decades?

People blasted Marvin Lewis for years with Bengals. How he had such a long tenure with the team and how they seemingly were around .500 team at times during his run or lack of playoff game wins. But the pure fact is ...Lewis was the best coach and got the most out of a **** situation with the team.

    - When Lewis took over the Bengals the team had been through a decade of terrible drafts and coaches. Here was the record combined of all these coaches : Dave Shula , Bruce Coslet , , and Dick LaBeau . Total wins from 1992 to 2002 : 52 Total number of losses : 124.

    - The Drafts during this span had such busts as : David Klingler , John Copeland , Ki-Jana Carter , Akili Smith , Peter Warrick etc

    - When Jones took over as coach he learned just how bad things were. The team had the worst limited scouting department in the NFL. Marvin Jones to his credit pushed Mike Brown to make things better and expand the scouting department.

Right now you have a young guy who never has been a head coach as we see. Combined with a history of an organization that has been failure except for a number of Marvel Lewis 15 seasons. Also given this was someone who at least coached the team to some level of decent , why he was never pushed into a front office position is beyond crazy. Given what the Bengals were before him and what they have became after.
