What's shocking is the UK cover says "COLOR." How American!

This one's kind of a deep dive but bear with me. MASKS was ostensibly a sort of riff on the idea of a pulp-era JLA or something, so you technically can't say it's a 'guest star' cover.... BUT!! it's actually a loose adaptation of "The Black Police Trilogy," a story that originally starred Richard Wentworth, the Spider... solo.

This is basically that story with a bunch of guest stars added, many of whom are in the public domain. That's my argument, your honor.

By the way, Age of Aces put out a really cool new trade collecting the original Black Police trilogy.

    More information here.

Cool, my cover of choice this week started a conversation. It's a shame I have nothing to add to it.

    MCU's $1 billion club together.

Does Mickey Mouse count as public domain character.

Disney has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to prevent it. They are the primary cause of copyright law being so complex.

Really, I always thought Mickey was PD. So my cover doesn’t count?

This subject is kind of hard. I posted a cover with the invisible man but without a character that wasn't public domain. I changed it to a Savage Dragon cover with the public domain Daredevil. Mickey Mouse is without a doubt owned by Disney. They will sue the pants off of anyone trying to use him without paying. I notice that there are more than a few covers that don't meet the mark this week.

There's no way Disney would have allowed Mickey to enter the public domain before he officially does a few years from now (95 years after his creation).

Art by Humberto Ramos unless I’m mistaken. A terrific cover.
