I'm going with the subtext of Illyana being abused in Limbo over anything else. I can't believe people are still crying over Scott/Emma.

Emma/Scott was the best thing to happen to both of those characters. This is still one of the best covers ever and hate how at first sappy and then how bonkers they made Emma afterwards. Emma/Scott was seriously the most mature and sophisticated comic book superhero relationship ever until they ruined it after Whedon left.

I agree. The Illyana Belasco stuff was horrific, absolutely vile, possibly the most horrible story I’ve ever read and I started reading in 1980.
Around about the same, over at DC, Raven of the Teen Titans was a big thing and they showed her father, also a demon, torching a small child. I remember thinking that Belasco would not have done anything so clean.
Also, I think the horror of Belasco is that he was a wannabe demon, he starts out as human. Eh, I need to root out those old Ka-Zar issues don’t I?

Emma and Scott, as it was depicted, is borderline sexual abuse.

Emma pretended to be a shrink, addressing Scott's PTSD. For some reason, Jean was never around, having suddenly lost all empathy, and Emma used that as an excuse to get in Scott's pants when he was at a mental low.

Shrinks cannot screw their patients, for reasons that should be obvious. Yet Emma did. So yeah

I heard some stories about shrinks falling in love or having the hots par patients.

That was a bad start and no one wanted to adress this

All right... Now that I've thought about it even more... Dishonorable mentions.

1.) Nate Gray and Maddie - Oedipal complex.

2.) Inferno - ALL of it. The X-Factor set-up. Maddie hooking up with Alex and messing with his mind. Maddie deciding to sacrifice HER OWN SON. The inferno babies. For real, was there ANYTHING about that story that was appropriate? (Yet, I still can't help but read it.)

3.) Betsy and Doug. Colossus and Kitty. Magneto and Rogue. Compared to the rest of the list, the statutory shenanigans seem kind of tame.

4.) Red Queen seducing Cyke.

5.) Ultimate Wolverine trying to score with Mary Jane Watson in Peter's body.

6.) Ultimate Blob eating Wasp.

7.) Wasn't there a What-If based on Inferno where someone fed bestial Wolverine a baby?

I feel like "inappropriate" in the context we're discussing it only works as a label for stories where the creators obviously didn't realize how creepy the plot point was. That's why the sky sex is a good example, because the comic really doesn't seem at all aware of how messed up it was.

But, Inferno? The creepiness there was intentional, not accidental.
