I'm willing to bet that there was a thread about it, but I can't find it, so here's the new one for this mini-series, since the preview is out !

Of course, they have to do the I Vampire thing, but hey, Mad Monk, and the story takes place in the present.

He's a Tepes? ...or the Tepes? Didn't know that. Only read the golden age first appearance.

It's a shame he became a vampire just as he entered high school.
    He'll be forever a teen.

Many would consider that the opposite of "shame", depending on how they looked as a teen. It doesn't stop most of 'em from looking hunky and boy-band throb and/or super model pretty either way.

I think this is a recent development.

I really hope this book does well.

I kinda love how they keep trying to make Andrew Bennett a thing... hopefully this time it sticks.

He's not "THE" Tepes, but the name, Nikolai Tepes, is from BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK by Matt Wagner. I was really big on the two-part miniseries Wagner did that was set basically right after Year One and retold those two O.G. Golden Age Batman tales (Batman and the Mad Monk, and Batman and the Monster Men). Between Monk here and the callback to Hugo Strange, which Orlando himself was the one who did the "Night of the Monster Men" story, it's really really cool to see Orlando making this a direct sequel to those series from 2005-2006.

Because it's also already billed as being a direct sequel to Grant Morrison's SEVEN SOLDIERS. But Frankenstein has come a way since then so it's also probably a bit of a sequel to NEW 52 Frankenstein. And New 52 I, Vampire. And BOTH runs of Justice League Dark. And with the inclusion of Orca, a light sequel to Tim Seeley's Nightwing. And with Killer Croc, a light sequel to recent Suicide Squad books. And with Lady Clayface, a light tie-in to Doomsday Clock. And with the solicitation text taken into account, a light sequel to Event Leviathan! HOLY TIE-INS, can the man pull it off?!

    I really missed Orlando.

And I have to wonder if he'll pick up the thread of Doctor October and Clayface being in the wind.

    Mad Monk, COOL!
I just read the Gerry Conway and Gene Colan version of the Mad Monk and Dala.

Agreed. Wish it had sold better.
