Drake and Orphan. Why can't we call Cassandra Black Bat anymore?

Then how is Orphan worse than Black Bat?
Black Bat is derivative of Batman and thus horribly unoriginal. In comparison Orphan is original.

When did I say Black Bat was any better?

    I really don't mind Orphan.
Drake is silly as it's his name and a duck. I can't take it seriously. Tim deserves better (and the new uniform is ugly).
But I think Signal is the worse. Spoiler is only slightly better than Signal but still worse than Drake.
Red Robin was working fine for me.

Black Bat has some alliteration which is always nice and fits Cass since she's loyal to the symbol of the bat.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Orphan. It's evocative.
As for Drake and people saying it's a duck. You know what it also is? A dragon. In fact, the word is far more famously connected to dragons than with ducks.
I get the feeling people are just looking for reasons to complain.
It is? This is the first time I’ve ever heard the name attributed to a dragon. Vampire, or duck? Yes. Dragon? No.

Except that the first "Black Bat" was a pulp hero that predates Batman.

It always seemed to me that DC choosing that name for Cass was a weird attempt to claim the name.

    Yeah.
I like Orphan, it sounds badass to me. And Red Robin was okay!

    Signal for me. Just why?

I don't see Drake as any worse than Robin or Blue Bird. Scratch that - Blue Bird is the worst because it makes me think of Big Bird and that is terrible for a gritty superhero.

Drake. It's so goddamn lazy. Let's make the hero's surname his codename because that makes sense. Tim might as well not have a secret identity.

    Tim-I am The Drake!
Condiment King- Like the dragon from medieval lore?
    Tim- No, like the bird.
Condiment King- Isn't that a duck?
    Tim- Well, yes but-
Condiment King- Really kid? You have my sympathies.

Orphan. By far the worse name currently in Gotham, and there's some pretty horrible names out there.

I'd say Red Robin was the worst, if that were in play. Compared to being named after a fast food chain, Drake is sheer genius. And really, everyone bitching about it being a duck.....I mean, I get it, but "Robin" isn't exactly awe-inspiring. It's a small, annoying bird and the only reason y'all dont think that's lame as hell is because it's been a part of comic book culture for eighty years.

Orphan though.....man, that's just bad *and* sad.

I still prefer Drake to people suggesting cardinal. Makes him sound like the Duchess of Malfi character. My connotation of cardinal with never be the bird, especially since I've never really heard of them in the UK
