It is a weird world. But I'm growing more and more to enjoy it. There's an energy and fun to it, even as it's really strange.

Carrie is awesome - I've loved her from the start, and so glad Miller is giving her more and more to do. Lara is kind of a jerk, but Jon is a sweety. He is very much the heir of Clark in his love of humanity.

It's a fun story. I liked most of it quite a bit. The art especially.

The art was pretty fantastic...but the story was pretty much word soup.

I loved Grampa's Damian Wayne Secret Origins issue written by Tomasi. He made Damian so cute

I loved it!! I can't believe it. I'm glad others feel the same.

The art was gorgeous, and worth it for that alone. The social/political commentary was pretty good. It wasn't the most original, or insightful, or nuanced. But neither was the commentary in Dark Knight Returns — that too was a pretty surface-level observation on Cold War Reagan. What I like is, similar to that one, at least it's a pretty coherent take and it ties into a superhero plot pretty easily.

Mostly I just liked this version of Carrie / Lara / Jonathan. I loved Carrie's new costume and her full leader status. Definitely interested to see more of those three, without needing Bruce/Clark/Diana.

I like the idea of Joker being reanimated/resurrected by Darkseid, eternally reborn like he is, although Joker himself didn't make much of an impact other than his reveal. I definitely like the Jokerz-esque gang.

I'm going back to finish DK III now... I started it, then dropped it after Bruce's resurrection out of just ambivalence. I thought it was definitely better than DKSA and ASBAR, but I wasn't gripped like I was by Last Crusade. I especially didn't like Carrie's green/purple costume as Batgirl with the bat-symbol on the butt. Anyway now I'm back and finishing it and appreciating it a little more, but still feel it's a little like a more competent version of DKSA.

Maybe Darkseid revived him or used some New God holographic doodad?

The bigger question is no one surprised to see him alive, so I really think Miller forgot he was dead.

That was my thought as well.

Sigh, one of the greatest Batman writers and he continues to tarnish his legacy. He modernized the character forevermore, yet he can never return to that greatness, I wish he retired simply for the sake of his reputation.

Eh. I thought it was fun, even with the flaws. But I'm not super attached to these particular stories, so I don't feel the discontinuity as much as others. My own thought is that Joker will always pop up, over and over again.

Sure, but imagine if King, Snyder or Morrison started writing like late stage Millers; that would sting pretty hard especially for me

I mean, King does have some details that morph a bit from the beginning of his run to the end - it doesn't bother me, even though I love the run, but it does get brought up sometimes . Snyder has definitely gone off the deep end of "high concept" since he finished his Batman run, and Morrison. Well. He started in the deep end and only got deeper.

Eh he's allowed to miss now and again, I thought DKIII was decent though it did slump a little in the middle. And while I only read the first part of his new Superman story it seemed pretty solid too.

This was an incoherent mess though, aside from the art(as I said) it had little to redeem it though I did like Darkseid as an avatar for the concept of evil though.

I don't think Miller or anyone "forgot" that Joker was dead — especially with how many references there were to twisting/snapping his neck. The implication is that Joker was revived by Darkseid.
