    Default was it true that...

    1. Once Geoff Johns brought Hal Jordan back in Rebirth that the other Lanterns, Jon Stewart, Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner got pushed to the background? Or has it been more of an ensemble with the focus shifting between the Lanterns at any given time?

    2. Has GL just been action set piece after action set piece? I think it's weird that it doesn't take breathers to focus on Hal and Carol or any of the other Lantern relationships and other things. Even Superman has his Clark Kent moments and isn't just jumping from BIG BAD to the next BIG BAD. I'm asking as a reader wanting to dive into Green Lantern.

    1. I mean not really. If you only read the main GL book then yeah all the focus is on Hal. But in GLC, Guy Gardner is basically the main character (though it is an ensemble book mainly) as well as in Red Lantern Corps. Kyle definitely got pushed back...but that's because he was no longer the ONLY GL around, nor the main one anymore, so yeah that was bound to happen. Still got a lot to do in GLC, NG, and Hal and Pals. Jon Stewart has never gotten a lot of focus in the comics honestly. He's gets a lot to do in Hal and Pals though.

    2. Geoff Johns GL run, Tomasi/Gibbons GLC run, and Venditti's Hal and Pals run all have a great mix of character moments and big blockbuster action scenes.

It's true that when Hal returned, he once again became the focus and center of the franchise. But I wouldn't say the others got totally pushed into the background. Not long after Hal's solo started they did a Kyle maxiseries and a GLC team book. They were all carrying books as either co-stars or solo leads for a good chunk of time, and villains like Sinestro and Larfleeze and the Red Lanterns had titles too. The other earth Lanterns have faded in and out of the GL titles over the years but they're never out of sight for too long.

But there's no question that Hal is the star and has been since Rebirth.

And yeah, I think the book has been Big Bad after Big Bad for a long time. I feel like the last time I remember anyone's personal life getting much attention, outside of a romantic subplot here or there, was around the time of Infinite Crisis when Hal was still spending time on earth, working for the Air Force, living in Coast City, and dating Cowgirl. I've skipped a whole bunch of runs since Johns left though, so I could have just missed stuff.

No, that ^ is a narrative spun by those trying to play victim status.
First thing you'd have to prove is that John and Guy and the Corps were the leads in Green Lantern book at the time, for them to have been "pushed into the background" as you say.
You can't, they were not the leads in GL then, it was Kyle.
Truth is John and Guy were not the focus of GL at the time. they didn't have their own Green Lantern books (anymore), Guy wasn't even a GL, in fact their books (as well as Hal's) and the Corps had all been replaced for the Kyle only era of Green Lantern. Kyle was the focus.

GL Rebirth was about bringing the entire Corps back, that included and lead up to Hal, John and Guy as well as the entire Corps Kilowog, Arisia all back and all new characters all active at the same time! Which is what Rebirth was about and did successfully.

GL was finally a franchise again, now growing with more than one GL book and focus.

John continued as the lead in Justice League, Guy as indicated was finally brought back, and featured in the new Corps on going, with Kyle and the growing Corps.
Kyle was never demoted, he even got his own Ion book where he's the center Guardian of the universe! or whatever he called himself, He then became the White Emotional Ultimate Lantern etc... always getting promoted,
Nobody got demoted, in fact post Rebirth we went from having one GL book for Kyle, to having several under Geoff Johns' stewardship including all the events spun from it.
GL was a tremendous franchise again. And the lead GL of JL became a rotating position again. John, Hal, Simon, Jessica....!

As to the JL Animated, where John was written as the founder and Lead GL, that continued with John. Hal never replaced him there.

And with the return of the Justice League Animated, if anything they expanded to include Jessica not Hal,

Again she is the result of the Rebirth era, opening the door to even more Green Lanterns, and doing everything to rebuild the entire Corps, and lift up the entire franchise to where it hadn't been in a long time.
Not sure why you still get those trying to spin GL Rebirth and everything it did, into a negative?

    The truth is that...

Kyle Rayner relevance greatly lessened. DC tried doing different things with him, but none of them really took. It's to the point now he's in limbo. But DC tried.

John Stewart was ALWAYS in the background. Geoff Johns co. didn't really put him there. They just didn't do anything with him to raise his profile when they could. They simply were not interested in this character.

Guy Gardner benefited from Rebirth. He came out of mothballs and led the Green Lantern Corps book until 2013, when he was moved over to Red Lanterns.

He was sitting on the one power in the DCU that was created for and could implicitly be shared ...by a CORPS!
That is the relevance of the ring he got.
They were all de-powered, crippled, turned insane, or killed so he could be the only one with the CORPS power.
How was his relevance lessened? LOL!
    ...Context!

    ^ Another lie.

John, once the young open minded, artistic Green Lantern, as it was revealed his getting the ring was prophetic choice, took guardianship of the Mosaic which becomes a literal transformation, he inevitably fulfills that prophecy, channeling the powers of the Guardians themselves, finally becoming a Guardian in power and aspect.

(yes Guardians used to wear red)

Did it sell, debatable? They needed some 90's shock and awe (death of Superman / Breaking the Batman) sales! When it came to it.. He like the others was crippled body and mind (character assassinated) and robed of all his agency, to make Kyle the one and only new chosen one.

This whole human chosen to become the embodiment of the power aspect and arc was taken from John, and given to Kyle instead.... Now Guardian.

Everything I said was true. Your emotionally driven fan-ish opinions about what happened to Hal Jordan or the Green Lantern Corps are irrelevant. Kyle Rayner's relevance was greatly lessened.

His relevance in relation to the Corps?
He didn't exist in a vacuum, you can't pretend he did. You know what ring he was wearing.
If just bring the Corps back to where they were, you say makes him irreverent according to you?
Then he was irrelevant by nature.

Try and keep his character in in context of the ring he got.

His relevance as a character in the DC universe, and as a comic book character in general. He went from being THE Green Lantern, to some other thing (Ion), to essentially being an also-ran.

Well over a year before Hal and Rebirth, Kyle had already been replaced in JL, so nice spin, not sure how you blame Rebirth and Hal's character for that?
John was also the lead in JL again during McDuffies run.
    And again now.

And again Kyle had a Corps ring, keep it in context!

No, it isn't. For some really bizarre reason to me, you just don't want to admit something that is the truth. It almost baffles me. It's like someone finding out their religion is false but aggressively hanging on to it regardless.

Listen, it doesn't matter what the fictional stories tell you about how important these characters are, or what silly new power they got and how powerful they were with it. There is only so much spotlight to go around. Some characters, like Kyle Rayner, lost overall importance when Hal Jordan came back. Some characters, like John Stewart, never had much spotlight to begin with and didn't get anymore when Hal Jordan came back. Actually, he lost some, because DC put Hal Jordan back in the JLA, and John was either gone, or had to share the spot with Hal. Not that John was doing anything worth a darn in the JLA anyway. John may have been in some GLC books, but during the Johns years, he was sharing the book with some other character who was always more important than him in the grand scheme.

So where was he written that way?
Of course you have proof of this.
    Or are you...

And I love how the story and context; which ring and title he got just magically "doesn't matter".

Right, cause you know if you acknowledged it, you'd have to recognize the concept was "ALWAYS' bigger than just Kyle.
And that included Hal, John, Guy and the Corps.
