Default *MAJOR SPOILERS* The Secret of Spider-Man (2019) #1

So Bleeding Cool reported on this first issue, and it's a doozy. So, here goes. Major spoilers if you don't want to be spoiled.

    spoilers:
This miniseries is not about Peter at all: it is instead about Ben Parker, Peter and MJ's future son who takes up the mantle of Spider-Man.
    end of spoilers

Bleeding Cool has the link below: https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/09...sara-pichelli/

And they confirmed that the series was indeed co-written properly with the Abramses

Why'd I spoil it for myself?!

    That sounds really interesting!

Considering that Abrams is involved and he's the creator of Kylo Ren, I wonder if that's a hint about who Cadaverous is supposed to be.

Friendly Aside: Hey WSW old pal, old buddy,, you might want to amend the title...it gives the impression that the title of the comic is "The Secret of Spider-Man". Maybe Abrams and Son Spider-Man #1 secrets, or actually just spoilers would be better.

I guess I should change that. Mister Mets, can we add quotation marks around Spider-Man?

As for the other thing, dude spoilers!

    end of spoilers...
    spoilers:
I can't help but wonder if this will be set in 616 or be a possible future? We've seen a few such books before. I'll be more interested if this is the definitive future rather than a possibility.

    spoilers:
The article states it's in the far future. So most likely not entirely 616 but close enough!

I generally like Bleeding Cool, they tend to report on indie comics as often as the big two...but this kind of spoiler-coups, not even loosely disguised as speculation, just doesn't seem to have any purpose other than to kill the word of mouth a comic like this was obviously courting.

You only have major spoilers that go unadvertised because you want people to read it, talk about it, discuss it, and that's fair and proper.

I say this as someone who was skeptical about this project from Day 1 but I do think this is unfair to Abrams Jr.

I don't know: this is getting people talking about the book, especially once it comes out.

Yeah, this actually makes me more intrigued to check it out. I think it will prompt people who were on the fence to pick it up.

Agreed. I mean, it does seem to get people talking about it, but think about how many people would be talking about it if they kept it under wraps.

Technically it still is. I don't know how many views Bleeding Cool got, but it may not be more than those who would read the book. Once it breaks tomorrow, then it'll be a bigger deal.

It is doing the opposite of killing word of mouth. Also, I mean, I now know something else about it that will rock this board... but let's keep that until Wednesday, shall we?
