She had points.
Storm had the genius idea to pretend the X-Men were dead, so that they could better protect their own, yet they didn't do anything for the New Mutants.
And she's right to point that the members of the "main X-Men private club" tend to come to back more often that the others.
Bringing back the old, killing the young: that's the Marvel way
I'm bummed Hickman is leaving after the first arc, but I'm still excited for this. The NM are the best subgroup after the main X-Men and I'm glad they're not breaking up the group too much. At least Sam seems likely to make an appearance. I'd happily swap out one of the 90s kids for Magma though.
Could use some new costumes too.

Magma is one of the most iconic New Mutants (being one of the only team members to get notable influence in outside media) and Cypher has consistently been a favorite, like Magik, since he was revived for Wells' run.
Wolfsbane is a whiney, racist, run-of-the-mill feral.

Dougiebabe was always deeply underrated by everyone (except Kitty and Betsy "Statutory Where?" Braddock). He has been super-buffed post-resurrection to make people recognize the True Faith. I love his new power set.
Rahne has always been soft sapphic and I've always missed her never getting to unwind with the OG X-Force. But PAD turned her into a complete nutjob in his second X-Factor run. Rahne should've evolved beyond her fundamentalist roots in the mode of a Sinead O'Connor (with, y'know, less issues), not leaned into them.
Magma is useless.
Magma's awesome, and has an epic visual.
I'm pretty sure Mondo's there to be a proxy for/carrier of Krakoan organic technology but I hope he gets some much needed character work.
I'd love to see Penance but I'm hoping she'll get some love along with M elsewhere considering the awesome showing in House of X.
Rahne's driven solely by her selfish emotions... as always. If only she'd been in lesbians with Catseye, she'd have been such a more mellow character.

I think Magma may be my least favorite of the OG New Mutants, but that group is is so tightly knit together that it feels like something is missing if even one of them is absent. It's at least a safe bet that Sam and Warlock will be showing up eventually, but I'm kind of apathetic to Chamber and Mondo as I've never read their 90s book. I don't mind they're here, but wouldn't have minded just a straight up OG New Mutants book either. As much of a rehash as it may have been, Hickman is writing it, at least it will be an awesome rehash.
