That's what I like with Hickman writing: it's complex. Every revolution has a dark and creepy side.
The success of civil right movement is not only due to MLK, but also by movements like the Black Panther party and the Nation of Islam, who did a lot of great things but sometimes were also really extremists (racialists, mysoginists and violent), Ghandi was a pacifist but the movement "quit India" in 1942 was quite violent and gave the independance of India. The french revolution was at first a fight for justice and equality, but it's also the mass murders of "the terror" by Roberspierre Marat etc.
A revolution can't be perfect, and it will always need at the same time dreamers and fighters, who are never perfect. And it's interesting to see how the x-men will manage them to attain an equitable society.
I try to improve my english, feel free to correct me by DM if you see some mistakes !
No one is saying they can have these great things, it's just that this whole set up is evil and ominous.
My hat's off to you refuting me using the same reference pool. I really was concerned that Eastern Pop Culture fandom rarely pops up its head in these parts.
You wouldn't happen to be in the Beast's Lair forum too, are you?
On a random note, I can't help but recall a story thread from AlternateHistory.com, about 2015 Japan finding itself moved back in time to 1939 Earth. Among the many contacts established with America of the time, the Japanese offices of 2015 Disney (plus the operators of Tokyo Disney Resort) had a meeting with Walt himself. The man eventually bought into 2015!Disney's suggestion of acquiring Timely Comics early, with the intent to jump-start the Marvel franchise. One condition however was that when the X-Men were (re-)introduced, their setting would be SEPARATE from the continuity with the rest. (Captain America was problematic because with the Japan replacement, Pearl Harbor never happened and the isolationists - egged on secretly by a 2015 Marine who was a secret Neo-Nazi - are reinvigorated in preventing US entry into WWII).
I'm rambling now, but still, fun Marvel-related (tangentially) stuff.
Genkai nante nai (No limits), Zettai nante nai (No absolutes)
Thank GOD for X'97. Cautious about "From the Ashes". Please no more Blue vs. Orange.
I think that's reducing things to a sort of black and white degree when the situation is a bit more complex than that. And yeah it requires the leaders of this nation to have a bit more of a morally flexible code then ever before in order to stave off extinction. That might leave a sour taste in some folks mouths but nothing the X-Men have done I would classify as outright "evil".
OH

Xavier and Apoccy made "deal" that sounds shady when you say it like that but say like that doesn't explain the explain the power dynamic. Xavier and Apoccy made a deal where Apoccy and all the villians bends the knee to Xavier. They are not in a partnership. To come on Krakoa means to accept their rules and leadership.
