I don't know what the hell continuity this story is from, so I'll put it here:

"I should describe my known nature as tripartite, my interests consisting of three parallel and disassociated groups; a) love of the strange and the fantastic, b) love of abstract truth and scientific logic, c) love of the ancient and the permanent. Sundry combinations of these strains will probably account for my...odd tastes, and eccentricities."

Surprised that no one has done Frank Millers Dark Knight books yet. Set in Earth-31 where Batman retired after Jason Todd's death and came back when he was in his mid 50's.
Art of this cover is Jim Lee, really not a fan of Frank's art work.

Nschornhorst. Even a non-DC fan like me has some awareness of Kingdom Come.

The Darknight Detective; there is something just right about a Batman by gaslight.

Honourable mention to Javasaurus for a great dieselpunk Iron Man.

CaptCleghorn. That particular run of Legionnaires was all kinds of awesome. And that was the standout cover.

Gotta go with Nschornhorst! Kingdom Come is still as powerful a story today as it was when it was first released over twenty years ago!
