I never actually believed this character was real until the monthly was announced. How I have missed her appearances all these years beats me, but seriously, I thought it was a joke. A girl whose power is talking to squirrels, who has taken down the biggest and baddest in the MU? Come on.

However, I am totally checking this book out when it debuts. It just looks like silly, over the top fun. Sort of like Ms. Marvel.

Also like the fact that in the cover images for the monthly, she's not drawn to look like your standard super-model style character.

This character just might have a couple new fans in January, my wife is as morbidly curious about this as I am.

My usually mature adult red-headed daughter is just mad for the cinematic Iron Man (well, Tony Stark, actually), but she's never followed comics. So when I started calling her Squirrel Girl, she didn't get the reference. Then this weekend she called one of her cats Tippy-Toes, and I had to tell her.* She is so getting this for her birthday.
