Default Create your own DC Compendium

Image Comics is pretty awesome with their compendiums.

They just released their Saga compendium which is 1300 pages long.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is create a compendium for DC Comics.

    Any character. Any team.

The only rule is the page count may not exceed 1300 pages.

    What you got?

I'd make a catalogue and detailed history of all the food showcased in the DCU, like Soder Cola for example.

Super Snacks! A detailed discourse of DC delicacies.

I'd make a Vixen compendium in a hearbeat... if only she had 1,300 pages worth of content.
Black Panther - Champion of Bast
    Vixen - Champion of Anansi

I'd make Compendiums with Batman time line:

vol.1 : The early days - Year One to Knightfall
vol.2 : The End of Batman and Gotham - Knightfall to No Man's Land - Chuck Dixon's run
vol.5 : Rebirth of Gotham - New Gotham to Hush, including Gotham Central - Greg Rucka & Ed Brubaker's run
vol.6 : The Hush Saga and more - Hush + Paul Dini's run
vol.7 : The Gang War - War Drums + War Games + War Crimes
vol.8 : Batman, Damian and Time - the full Grant Morrison's run and previous works
vol.9 : The New Batman - The Full Scott Snyder, with the full crossovers + All-star Batman
vol.10 : Batman Eternal forever - Batman Eternal + Batman & Robin Eternal
vol.11 : The New Batman Companion - Batman, the dark knight New52 + Detective Comics New52 (excluding the crossovers)
vol.12 : Batman the rebirth - the full Tom King's run
vol.13 : The Batmen - the complete James Tynion IV run

Then I'd make a DC Crisis Compendiums:
vol.0 : DC Crisis - all golden / silver / bronze age crisis
vol.1 : Infnit Earths - Crisis on Infinit Earths + Crisis on Infinit Earths Companion + DC: Legends
    vol.2 : Justice League International
    vol.3 : DC and Time - Crisis in Time + tie-ins + Zero Month
vol.4 : DC Inifinity - Indentity Crisis + Checkmate + Villains United + Rann-Thanagar War + Day of Vengeance + Infinit Crisis + JSA Classified + Omac Project
    vol.5 : 52 + Secret Six
    vol.6 : Final Crisis - Seven Soldiers + Final Crisis + Flashpoint
    vol.7 : Forever Darkseid - Justice League New52 + Justice League of America New52 + Forever Evil
    vol.8 : World's End - Earth-2 + World's End + Furture End + Convergence
vol.9 : Doomsday- Watchmen + Before Watchmen + Superman: The Final Days of Superman + Superman: Lois & Clark + Titans Hunt + Rebirth + Batman/Falsh: The Button + Doomsday Clock
vol.10 : Heroes in Crisis - Dark Knigt: Metal + No Justice + Heroes in Crisis + Batman Who Laughts

I remember it being in a lot of Superman comics Post-Crisis. Bibbo loves that stuff!

If not a compendium, an omnibus! If not an omnibus, a trade! What you got?

It would most likely be a trade called "The Best of Vixen" or something, which would contain:

    1. The unpublished first issue of her cancelled comic book from 1978

    2. Her team-ups with Superman

    3. Her story arcs in "Justice League" (written by Dwayne McDuffie and others)

    4. The entire "Return of the Lion" story

    5. Her "Birds of Prey" arc where she went undercover in a cult and became brainwashed for a bit

    6. Maybe some "Suicide Squad" issues (if any of those arcs focused on her)

    7. Maybe some "Justice League Detroit" issues that focused on her

    8. Some "Rebirth" content, especially her "Rebirth" one-shot
Black Panther - Champion of Bast
    Vixen - Champion of Anansi

I'd personally love to see a two book Young Justice compendium series.

Book One would be about 1350 pages (I know, breaking my own rule!) and would feature the following:

    World's Finest 3 # 1-2

    Robin + Impulse # 1

    Impulse # 28, 41

Young Justice: The Secret # 1

    JLA: World without Grown-ups # 1-2

"Tin Man's Lament" - short story from JLA 80 Page Giant # 1

    Young Justice # 1-2

    Young Justice # 1,000,000

    Young Justice # 3

Young Justice: Secret Origins 80 Page Giant # 1

    Young Justice # 4

Young Justice Secret Files # 1

    Young Justice # 5-8

    Young Justice 80 Page Giant # 1

    Young Justice: No Man's Land # 1

"Head Games" - short story from DC One Million 80 Page Giant # 1

    Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E # 5-6

    Young Justice # 9-11

    Young Justice #12, Supergirl # 36, Young Justice # 13, Supergirl # 37

    Young Justice # 14-19

Young Justice: Sins of Youth # 1, Superboy # 74, Young Justice: Sins of Youth Secret Files # 1, JLA, Jr. # 1, Aquaboy & Lagoon Man # 1, Batboy and Robin # 1, Kid Flash & Impulse # 1, Starwoman and the JSA, Jr. # 1, Superman Jr. and Superboy Sr. # 1, Wonder Girls # 1, The Secret & Deadboy # 1, Young Justice: Sins of Youth # 2

    *****

Book Two would be about 1170 pages and would feature the following:

    Young Justice # 20-34

Young Justice: Our World's at War # 1

    Young Justice # 35-36

    Impulse # 77, Young Justice # 37

    Young Justice # 38-43

    Young Justice # 44, Impulse # 85, Robin # 101, Superboy # 99, Young Justice # 45

    Impulse # 86-87

    Young Justice # 46-55

    Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day # 1-3

    Teen Titans # 1-6

Oh I like that. But I'll also include all supplemental materials and the relevant Bat family titles, just so I can get the full experience and full timeline.

Do people actually read the 1300 page books? That seems near impossible from a physical standpoint. Or is it just for the bragging rights to say you have it all in one book?

I have a few omnibuses, but the big ones (JSA volumes 1-3) are more because, well, I'm unsure DC will actually finish the paperback collections and I love rereading that series, so breaking it out and reading the tome is nice, but you do kind of need a table for them. The binding suffers otherwise. I think the biggest reason to get them, however, is the uncertainty of smaller collections. They started printing The Spectre and Birds of Prey, and Robin but stopped due to sales. Hell, it took them twenty years to reprint Byrne's Superman run.

I generally prefer the smaller collections I can knock out in an afternoon instead of the omnibus colossus model, but you take what you can get sometimes.

Not me. They're too expensive and you can't lounge with it.
