    Default Decoder Ring Theatre

With the demise of the old boards, the thread where I tried to keep everyone up to date on Decoder Ring Theatre - home of the fantastic "Red Panda Adventures" and "Black Jack Justice" audio dramas, is gone. Hopefully it is all right to begin a new one.

For those unfamiliar, Decoder Ring Theatre is an audio drama production company run by Gregg Taylor. Gregg writes, directs, produces and acts in the two primary series, in addition to writing tie-in novels for both and MonkeyBrain's Red Panda comics. Beginning Sep. 1, 2014 (Season 10), DRT will be releasing one new episode per month, alternating between the detective series, "Black Jack Justice" (Sep. 1), and the super hero stories of the "Red Panda Adventures" (Oct. 1).

Currently, the powerful ninth season finale of the "Red Panda Adventures" is available now for download.

Red Panda Adventures - episode 108 - The Gadget

"A new world is about to be born.

But before it can be born... something will have to die, at the hands of The Gadget."

As an interesting aside, at this year's Free Comic Book Day, Marvel Comics artist Skottie Young was doing head sketches at the shop we went to. One of my boys asked for the Red Panda:

I wanted to see what it would look like in color, so I used a photo editing app on my phone and got this:

I always like to see how different artists visualize things.

The new issue (#7) of Red Panda Comics is now available. A nice conclusion to this story featuring the Poet.

Kicking off Decoder Ring Theatre's 10th season is a fantastic new episode of their detective series, Black Jack Justice:

Black Jack Justice - episode 61 - The Rat Trap

"Sometimes the problems that bring people to the grey-green doors of the mighty world headquarters of Justice and Dixon are not as big as they might imagine. Sometimes they are simple people, befuddled by a problem outside of their experience, and assuming a degree of complexity that does not otherwise exist. Those are good days. This isn't one of them."

While there is no new Red Panda episode or comic for September, there is still a new adventure for the Terrific Twosome of Toronto. If you've been following the "Pulp Preview" chapters in the Red Panda digital comics, you've already had a taste. The full version of "Tales of the Red Panda: The Pyramid of Peril" is finally available. Fourth in the series, this book follows the Red Panda and the Flying Squirrel to Egypt on a mission to locate the Stranger, who has disappeared.

The Red Panda Adventures - episode 109 - The Ghost

Peace and prosperity has been restored, and the nation's fighting men are finding their roles in the Toronto of tomorrow. But it isn't as easy for some as it is for others. Some choose a vocation of crime, some long to cover it and one seems to have become... a Ghost.
