Because certain things are woven into DC's DNA that aren't woven into Marvel's, things like sidekicks forming teams. DC is also really good at heroes who run fast and Marvel isn't but that has nothing to do with this post.

For the longest time Marvel was uncomfortable with the teen/sidekick hero concept. Look at it this way, for awhile Marvel's most popular teen hero was Spider-Man and it's attempt at a teen group were the...X-Men. Neither were legacy. It just felt like DC was the legacy folks and Marvel was too cool for that.

It still feels like Marvel is uncomfortable with the concept.

LOGIC says they can. Trade sales would say they can.

    The difference is this-

Champions is filled with characters that attract "gators" who hate their very existence. Along with some store owners. So no matter book quality-you had those faction going against it.

And there is something else unlike Teen Titian & YJ-Champions had guys with their OWN books.

So if you wanted to read about Conner Kent or Bart-YJ is all you GET.
Damian & Wallace are a crap shoot in Batman & Flash books.
Miles Morales? At least 5 with Shuri & Ironheart appearances.

Young Avengers will be like Young Justice-everyone there is appearing just there (Tim Drake the exception and that is a bigger issue if Luke Fox takes over).
So sales would not be an issue with them.
Titans is one of those books that is forever assured a shelf spot in stores no matter the roster or stories. So sales are not a real major issue with them.
Champions would really depend on the roster. Miles & Khan having other things going for them eat up sales. You would have to focus on the others way more.

The reason Champions and Young Avengers can't co-exist is because Champions gets people angry just by its very existence, while Young Avengers is a beloved modern classic and one of the surprise success stories of the '00s. Which title do you think Marvel will gravitate to?

Besides, I think it's best when Marvel's two co-existing young superheroes teams are the Young Avengers and the Runaways. Something about that feels natural, mainly because they contrast and compliment each other, compared to Champions being completely redundant by the former.

Young Avengers and Champions could perfectly co-exist creatively. If they won't, it's probably for commercial reasons more than anything else. In the current climate, I could see Marvel thinking they can't sustain two flagship young groups at the same time.

And speaking of commercial reasons, Champions might've been doomed from the start solely due to the fact that Marvel doesn't fully own that trademark. At the end of the day, it's probably safer for them to farm an IP they don't have to share with another publisher.
