Has he ever done any self depreciating humor?
Has he ever done any self depreciating humor?
If Return of the Joker is any indication, no. Joker prefers it when someone else is the punchline not him.
Absolutely yes.
Joker joked about how he was broke in A Death in the Family.
The Joker: "Just another victim of Reaganomics."
From Batman #427
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft
Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”
I suspect Joker sometimes figures he's the biggest joke of all, and that inspires some of his biggest schemes, but that's just me.
He's not even a big fan of Harley or the henchthugs telling a Joke that ISN"T about him. After all "I make the jokes around here..."
His style of self-deprecating humor is "Hey I'm nuts but I don't just trust a guy with a bandaged head" or "What's your greatest fear? Not saving the Commissioner in time? Me, in a thong?" so he's self-aware and can make fun of himself if the punchline is done at the expense of others.
