Good ones of course.
I want to watch at least on tv series from as many nations as possible
I got the following covered:
USA, France, South Korea, Japan(in the middle of a series), Russia, China and the UK.
Any other suggestions?

Can I ask what series you have from those nations? Just curious, although it may lead to a debate whether the ones you picked really represent those countries.
USA a bunch, France: Tony's Revenge, South Korea: Return of Iljimae, Prince Jumong, Yaksha and Joseon X-Files, Russia: Brigada, China: Legend of The Condor Hero, it was really goofy and i failed to finish it and UK: Diary of a Call Girl.
Romanzo Criminale is pretty immense. It's only two seasons and would cross Italy off the list.
"Set in the 1970s, it's the story of three lifelong friends who take control of organized crime in Rome."
Sounds intriguing, thanks.
Australia had some nice shows during the 90s, sadly can't recall any at the moment.
Oh! And the Almighty Johnsons from New Zealand?
A message from this resident from South East Asia: avoid Indian soap operas at all costs.

Sci-fi
Time-keepers - a pretty obscure japanese sci-fi drama , the show "continuum" sort of reminded me a little bit of it.

Drama
Kimi to Ita Mirai no Tame ni aka I'll be back - sort of like a groundhog day drama where one guy kept repeating his last 4 years till the millenium strikes and then he goes back to 4 years ago and repeat all over again.

Hotaru no haka aka Grave of the fireflies (this was a 2005 tv movie based on the animated movie , there was a 2008 movie based on that as well). The over 2 hours long tv movie expanded the role of the aunt a bit more.
