Default "PUT SOME CARROT IN YOUR HERO SANDWICH!": The Captain Carrot Appreciation Thread

    Hi.

I have no idea how to run one of these appreciation threads, but I figure since Captain Carrot influenced my childhood as much as any other superhero, plus Star Wars, Wizard of Oz, The Peanuts, and The Muppets, I figured I should do something for it...especially considering how much attention Spider-Ham is getting (don't get me wrong, I love Spider-Ham, and the attention he's getting, but his book was far less funny than CCAHAZC!).

I should point out, I'd like this thread to be more of an appreciation for any DC Funny-Animal superheroes, from the Terrific Whatzit:

...to the Protein Titans from "Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans":

    bunnyborg.jpg

...with the basis being the good ol' Zoo Crew!

    CCAHAZC!.jpg

    Anyway, I'll be back. Thanks!

*I refuse to acknowledge the Green Lambkin as a legit Jordan analogue.
For an ace pilot; the *Green-Lamp-Tern*, a bird makes more sense, and a coastal-bird at that, thematically and visually.
Plus teamed-up with the Green Sparrow and Blabs Canary* works great.!

I’m kinda surprised they got away with “Stacked Canary.”

I would totally read a Captain Carrot monthly with JLAnimals backup.

We need an animated series with the Zoo Crew and Justa Lotta Animals teams immediately.

Really wish we could get another CC & the Zoo Crew series, but have no faith that DC wouldnt turnnit into an overly wrought, angsty, grimdark run.

Yep, CG Animated - like a cross between The Incredibles (superheroes) & Kung Fu Panda (all animals)

    Voice Cast :

Captain Carrot (Rodney Rabbit) : Owen Willson

Pig-Iron (Peter Porkchop): Michael Clarke Duncan

    Alley-Kat-Abra (Felina Furr): Sofia Vergara

    Rubberduck (Byrd Rentals): Burt Reynolds

Yankee Poodle (Rova Barkitt): Jane Krakowski

Fastback (Timmy Joe Terrapin): Jack McBrayer

Little Cheese( Chester Cheese): Ricky Gervais - doing that squeaky voice he does when he gets excited
Remember suggesting a voice cast for this way back (10 years ago! LOL).
Done animated in a style between Kung Fu Panda (all animals) and crossed with The Incredibles (all as superheroes).

Meanwhile MC. Duncan and Reynolds have both since passed. WOW!
It'll be no surprise, while Marvel/Disney launch their Spider-Ham U to great fun and acclaim,
DC/WB will just continue to sit on this, claiming it can't be done, that these things aren't popular, with no idea how to approach it, and doing nothing!
    Meanwhile at Marvel - https://www.google.com/search?q=spid...iw=939&bih=691
    And little movie called Zootopia.

DC/WB freakin clueless about what they have!

As long as the team is kept in the Scott Shaw drawings, then I'm willing to take the iconic Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew. I was never a fan of the new 52 look for the Rodney/Captain Carrot.

Huh. Never saw that pic. Green-Lamp-Tern, huh? Green Lambkin one of the Just'a Lotta Animal names I didn't like either.

Just to over think it, Green Lantern is a weird thing to have to spoof like this, because the green lantern is an object, so technically you'd have to spoof that.

Yeah, Stacked Canary was another one I didn't like. I thought it should've been Blonde Canary, or something like "Black Cat Canary".

    That would be bad.

I love these! Especially Fastback. I will never "hear" that character the same again.

I shot a facebook messages to Mr. Shaw about this post. I doubt he'll respond but who knows?

    HOPPY THE MARVEL BUNNY!

    1720429-hoppy_the_marvel_bunny.jpg

Hoppy was the funny animal version of Shazam/Captain Marvel. He first appeared in Fawcett's Funny Animals #1 (Dec. 1942), which I think makes him the first DC funny animal since he is part of the DCU now.

He also appeared in Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew! in The Oz-Wonderland War #2.

Anything you need to know about the character can be found here:
