Default Pre-Retcon Beyonder vs Ridiculous teams

What teams could maybe stand a chance against pre-retcon Beyonder?

    Total defeat optional (if possible).
Teams that give him a good enough fight to make him respect them he lets live.
No rules as pre-retcon Beyonder is silly powerful but try to keep the teams to a sensible size.

    To start us off:

    What about:

Rune King Thor with Infinity Gauntlet
Pre crisis Superman with Sword of Superman
    Dr. Strange (most powerful version)
    Batman (because...)

On their own they don't stand a chance! Especially Batman.

    All merge using potara earrings

Do they now stand a chance?

Not even close. PR Beyonder is narratively above TOAA, and certainly doesn't have any history of coming up short of his press.

As far as a team with a shot:

    TOAA
    The Presence
    Lucifer Morningstar
    Michael Demiurgos
    Living Tribunal with the HOTU
    Deadpool with the Infinity Gauntlet

Strat: Deadpool acts crazy, distracting Beyonder. It won't work, Beyonder will just incinerate 'pool, before turning on the others. At least it's likely to be funny. All except Lucifer try to engage Beyonder in a battle of power. They won't win, but maybe they can hold him static for a moment. Lucifer talks Beyonder out of the universe... somehow.

That's a pretty solid plan, actually.

Honestly, Lucy probably has the easiest role here: Beyonder ain't all that bright, for an omnipotent, omnicient dude. :-)

Yeah, and he's at least got some fodder to give him a chance to get talking.

Just to add, The Beyonder is not blood-lusted. The teams have to give him a good enough fight to make him respect them enough not to simply wipe them out. Maybe even just entertain him for a bit with their attempt.

Captain America could do the latter by himself IF the Beyonder happens to be in the right mood.

The Brothers, the Red and Blue entities who embodied the Marvel and DC universes, should be able to take him easily, since he is a part of the Marvel Brother. At least, that's what it seemed like. MvDC was a little confusing.

And not Canon. Hence not eligible as a feat

The LT clearly downgraded the Brothers later. They are not considered above the LT in Marvel canon. We normally don't consider the crossovers canon, even if mentioned in the standard MU or DCU.

That's not really applicable. We don't allow crossovers to show that Wolverine can beat up Lobo because both characters have established capacities that the comic ignored. The Brothers didn't exist prior to the comic in question, and clearly exist within the confines of the crossover continuity.

That said, it does get confusing if said characters showed up in Marvel canon later and were downgraded. But you're allowed to use crossover characters as their own stand alone point of reference. There's no reason I couldn't post a thread featuring Krona specifically from the "JLA vs Avengers" for example.

In the old forum, we discounted the mention of the cross over as allowing it to be canon. So Thor getting ko'ed by Kal was out as definitive.

Crossover Krona did wander around the DCU as an egg for a bit. He was a brute with the best takedown of Galactus. Punched him out and used him for a condo.

Right, we wouldn't count the crossover as canon-- but if nothing in this particular thread limits us to one particular canon for who we choose.

Matt dismissing the Brothers as non-canon is the equivalent of saying "The show is non-canon" if someone made a fight with Smallville Superman. It's the difference between primary canon and secondary canon.

As Pre-Retcon Beyonder is such a ridiculously powerful character you can use any characters from any canon for this rumble if that is allowed.

I prefer to go in the opposite direction; less is more. All you need is Charles Xavier, Reed Richards, and some prep time.

Reed constructs a device that drops Xavier into Earth-Prime (or whatever they call our Earth in Marvel) in 1983, where he convinces Jim Shooter to modify the Beyonder's powers or give him a very specific weakness. I call it the Curse of Fatal Death strategy.
