    The first one has a variety of portrayals that should put him beyond the second one. Put another way, the second Ares needs power ups just to lose to Thor more slowly.

    Actually, ugh, I suppose I'm talking about post crisis Ares there.

    What's the current one been doing? I know Azarello Ares got retconned out even in the New 52 era, let alone Rebirth.
