Default Dc next dawn - october solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, September 2019!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    THE FLASH #3
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
    “GORILLA TACTICS”
The Central Intelligence Agency has been funneling resources into an operation in Africa’s Congo Basin - an operation that technically doesn’t exist. Agent King Faraday believes this proves the CIA has been infiltrated by clandestine conspirators. To that end, he’s leveraging his media connection, Iris West, to gain the services of the fastest reconnaissance scout alive - the Flash! Just what are they hiding in that jungle, and why are they doing it?
Flash Fact: An adult gorilla is nine times stronger than an average man and can easily bend iron.
In their tongue, it is Uhuhahh. We would call it Gorilla City. It is home to a group of super-intelligent and highly advanced Gorillas, with some of its denizens so hyper-evolved that they’ve developed telepathic abilities. Unprepared to be faster than the speed of thought, Barry’s mind is ensnared - he’s made a puppet, and forced to kneel... kneel before Grodd!
The Light. Known by many names, among them Illuminati, this secret society has existed since time immemorial. It has manipulated events of global significance with the goal of ensuring that humanity evolves “properly.” There are thirty-six ranks within the Light, each with a number of members corresponding to the level of rank: two L2s, three L3s, etcetera. This means there are always 666 active members. General Abioye Ezekwesili is one of the most powerful men in Africa. He is an L36. And he’s been instructed to use his considerable power to eliminate certain liabilities in the region, specifically a rouge spy and a medaling reporter! With their speedster protector occupied, Faraday and Iris are targeted for elimination - and those orders come directly from the Lord of the Light, L1... the immortal Vandal Savage!

    LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #3
    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Grant Morrison
    Art by Kenneth Rocafort
    "Reign" Part 3
It took some convincing from Steel, but Superboy eventually accepted what Henshaw was telling him. Together, the 3 of them travel to Australia to locate the Eradicator, who has been trying to carve out a home for himself. The Eradicator tells them he was aware of the Multiverse, and even knows how to reach an alternate Earth, though the journey will be difficult. He tells them of his time at S.T.A.R. Labs, when he was bonded to Dr. David Connor, and that he knew an intern at the time named Cisco Ramon who had the meta ability to open portals, or "breaches". Upon arriving at STAR, Cisco refuses Henshaw's request for help but gives John Henry blueprints on how to build a quantum bridge. This bridge, according to Cisco, should allow the Supermen to travel to an alternate universe.
Back at SteelWorks, John Henry is busy building the machine when suddenly Henshaw cries out in pain! Something, or someone, has entered his circuitry...his cybernetic mind is flooded with images, sounds, binary code...it's too much to process. Henshaw crumples into a heap on the floor.
From the Cybernetic Memory Journal of Hank Henshaw:
I awaken to see the others huddled over me. The "Man of Steel" John Henry Irons, the Superboy, and the Eradicator. They are all eager to know what just happened, as am I...but it will take some time to manage the images, sounds, and binary code that I have received. But who sent them? And why? I get the feeling, insomuch that I still feel, that I am not the only being to receive these images. These...visions. Of the future? Of the past?
I saw Teri, my wife. Dead for years now. But she was...happy. I saw the Bat from Gotham, but older than I know him, traversing an apocalyptic wasteland, scanning the skies for trouble. I saw Steel, his suit in pieces, staring down an unknown foe in front of him. I saw what I believe to be an entire universe in its death throes, and I saw......something else. Something...glimmering. Could it be an Object of Power?

    THE PROTECTORS #2
    Plotted by Lorec
    Written by Mark Waid
    Art by David Finch
The Man in Black Part 2 of 3
More deaths have happened due to P&P overdoses. With the increase in victims, Tim has managed to snag a sample for study. Results show the drug operates in 2 phases. Phase 1 is Pleasure, just a feeling of being well, being in a good mood, happy, and is extremely addictive. Phase 1 lasts roughly 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the user. Phase 2 is Pain and happens as the user is coming down from their high. This can take about 30 minutes to go through. The danger here is that in some users, the pain is so great that they go into shock, which can kill them. They are also prone to violent outbursts, usually tied to wanting more P&P. Users that survive the initial experience want more and thus the cycle of highs and lows begins. And the more they take to get the Pleasure, the greater the Pain is, resulting in death.
But before Tim can release his findings, a man in black appears on the internet and TV announcing those exact same findings, his name is Moses Black. He's a hobby scientist but with his findings confirmed by California State Police, he gains all the credibility he needs. Little does anyone know, he's behind P&P.
Meanwhile, a Daggette Chemicals warehouse is suddenly bustling with activity at night in San Francisco. The former homeless people of Berkeley now have someplace to go and work to do.
From the diary of Tim Drake - October 20XX
This P&P stuff is like nothing I've ever seen. The pleasure sensors appear to go off the charts and the same is true the other way for the pain receptors. It's like whoever developed this drug knew exactly what they were doing. The question is, why?
On another note, patrolling with Steph has yielded nothing. Not that patrolling with her isn't great on its own, but I never realized how much I enjoyed being out there. Maybe once we deal with this P&P thing, we can patrol more often.

    Artist BILL SIENKIEWICZ
“Do You Think You’re What They Say You Are?”
In a world of superheroes and known aliens, there are different conspiracy theories. One popular theory is that the universe is rewriting itself as a result of cosmic manipulations. A multiversal crisis can occur and change your life dramatically. There are those who claim to experience memories of lives unlived. Social Media groups discuss their thoughts and sometimes get together to compare notes.
A man named Baron Winters (whether Baron is a title or his name is unknown) has a small mansion a few miles outside of Hub City. For a price, he claims to allow others to walk into previously existing realities through the rooms in his home. Vicki Vale has been assigned the story of uncovering Winters’ claims. Vic has decided to go undercover and test the theories himself. But he’s bringing his new cybernetic dog Bandit along as an undercover service animal
And when we lose a dog, we may post signs around the neighborhood or to post something on social media. The mysterious high-tech Aquarius corporation does something else altogether [cue dangerous music here].

    Plot by H-E-D
    Art by Riley Rossmo
Thanks to his xenothium-powered equipment, Dick Grayson succeeded in his mission – and found the experience more thrilling than he cares to admit.
With the invisible Doctor Süskind in tow, Red X is invited at last to the headquarters of Meridian: Náströnd.
Located in an inconspicuous corner of Siberia, what seems to any unknowing onlooker to be an old abandoned well gives way to a vast underground complex.
One thing is instantly apparent: Meridian is no arms dealer. But then, what are they?
Dick’s mission transforms from a simple arms bust to long-term espionage. Nightwing is staying dead for far longer than Dick planned.
Náströnd’s halls are filled not with rough and tumble Russian mafia, but scientists and scholars, shuffling between rooms marked only with symbols — skulls, stars, dragons.
Freshly minted as an Agent of Meridian, Dick finds himself under the command of Meridian’s head of special operations, Marcus Moore — the Deadman.
Among his fellow agents are two young metahumans: Jennifer “Jade” Yifei, and her brother Todd, “Obsidian”.
Dick can tell they lack the same conviction as the other agents — but Red X can’t dare explore that line of thinking without risking exposure.
Red X gains the acquaintance of a Dr. Emily Sung. But is she friend or foe?
Dick Grayson is in the lion’s den now. There are eyes everywhere, and nobody he can trust. Will he make it out alive?

    Art by Stephanie Hans
Diana attempts to reason with Nemesis, but whether or not her targets are the guilty party doesn’t seem to be a matter of debate for her.
The Wonder Woman manage to draw Nemesis’ attention away from civilians by proclaiming themselves representatives of Amazonia. (After all, that was the grudge that got her locked up, so it’s a bit of a sore spot for her)
When Ares’ children threatened Thymescira, Diana showed that love is the best way to stop a rampaging god.
But it doesn’t seem there’s much love to go around for vengeance incarnate!
    Shocking, really.
And Troia, aka Diana’s ex girlfriend Kasia, isn’t in a mood to hear Wonder Woman give a lecture on love. It’s all kinds of awkward.
Etta Candy comes in with an uncanny suggestion that might just save the day: if they’re representing Amazonia, excuses won’t solve anything.
But if they own their s#!% and apologize? That might make an impact.
Diana must convince her fellow warriors to sacrifice their pride to save the day.
Even if she succeeds, the question remains: with her prison destroyed, what will become of Nemesis?

Since nobody made a solicitation for a book of that title, indeed not.

Every post I make, it should be assumed by the reader that the following statement is attached: "It's all subjective. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you, and vice versa, and that's ok. You may have a different opinion on it, but this is mine. That's the wonderful thing about being a comics fan, it's all subjective."
