Default Would you still consider Punisher to be a Spider-Man character?

Punisher started out as a recurring antagonist, not necessarily villain, in the Amazing series. Eventually, he got popular enough to warrant his own series. At this point, there are many serious that not only don’t have Spider-Man in it, but the greater Marvel Universe as well.

Does he still count as a Spider-Man character by this point?

He's evolved into his own character. I can't really call him a Spider-Man character any more than I'd call Black Panther a Fantastic Four character.

Monica Rambeau isn't considered a Spider-Man character despite debuting in an ASM Annual either.

So I don't know why we want dibs on Frank Castle.

    A better question is:

Would Cloak & Dagger be considered Spider-Man characters?

I feel like they've evolved to their own, yet they maintain a stronger connection to the Spider-Man side since their debut than Frank.

There was a time he regularly and welcomed-ly appeared and guested on Spider-Man, but that was from the early seventies until the mid nineties.

Nowadays, I really cannot recall the last time he guested on a Spider-Title the past twenty years.

I must admit, it feels odd seeing him in the second OP for the 90s cartoon.

No! Punisher has been his own character at least since the late 80s/ early 90s when he started getting his own (multiple) comic series.

He still does it a lot, but I see what you’re saying.

This, Punisher is (rightly) considered his own thing by most fans now.

He is both his own thing and a character who works as part of the Spider-Man mythos. He has an interesting dynamic with the character.

A distinction is that there haven't been that many follow-up Spider-Man stories with Monica Rambeau.

There have been a lot of Spider-Man/ Punisher encounters after the first appearance.

Thankfully, no, he became his own thing, which is better for him since he's better off not being too dependant on other characters to be around.

Well like Frank they've had their own comics outside Spidey (which while not having Frank's longeivity, still have been fairly well received), and even their own TV series, entirely separate from Peter. They stand on their own at this point, just like Frank.

No. Frank is his own thing.

I think some characters 'get stuck' being some big names character.

I would love to see a Spider-Man/Punisher maxi series that forces them to team up in several back to back scenarios like the old Spider-Man/Wolverine ongoing was.

If they could get Garth Ennis to write it, then I'd totally support this.
