DC 5G: the Replacements

Nightwing would have no reason to pass on his title.

I think Jackson is very likely now, since he's even mentioned in the timeline when a more prominent character like Jessica Cruz isn't, and you know, Young Justice: Outsiders is a thing.

I can see why you chose Carol, but I personally don't see that happening. I think they'd want to pull from younger or newer characters. Which is probably why I think Avery is a good choice for the new Flash, although I'm not too certain about it. Doomsday Clock implies she'd be with the Great Twenty in China, but as the Fastest Person Alive, I guess she'd be able to manage taking care of the whole planet or something.

Atlantiades is the character I know the least about, only that some people ship her with Diana and that's cool. Is there a specific reason she might make sense, or just you best guess?

I chose Atlantiades and the others mainly because I was looking to current runs as reference points to what characters might be in play. Jon, Avery, Jackson, Atlantiades, they're all showing up in the books recently and all viable candidates for their positions in terms of powers.

Carol, well, it was tricky for me to think of a good candidate since Hal's been dicking around in space for a year, so I just thought about what GL supporting cast standbys could work.

Even in possible futures, he's either Batman or Ras. He never actually does something his own. I get Nightwing is a nod to a Kryptonian hero Clark told Dick about, so if someone wants to count that as a legacy then fine, but he at least created Robin.

All Damien does is declare himself as the best at what he sets his mind to and then copies people, but more of an ass. I'm still convinced the only thing Damien did best was pilot a pine box six feet under.

I'm a tad disappointed if the only reason they put Jackson into the Aquaman books was to set up a replacement storyline.

Personally, I see it as Damian following the path of the one he actually admires the most. One of his defining characteristics is his inferiority complex, which is why he tends to use his claim to the mantle of Batman to make himself feel bigger. Instead of going down the path of one he feels he must take, which we know takes him and Gotham to ruin in the future, he becomes Nightwing. In this case, Dick would be to Damian as Clark was to Dick.

The only reason Dick would hand the Nightwing mantle to someone else is if he became Batman. Damian was Dick's Robin last time he was Batman, though.
