Yeah, I just kind of want to know where DC's head is at when it comes to Aquaman and Wonder Woman, b/c I do think the only characters really set in stone is Luke as Batman and Jon as Superman; any of the rumored ones might be chosen but could change.
I don't want to totally disregard Jackson as a candidate but learning that Jackson and Garth weren't the only young male candidates associated with the Aquafamily and that there's this Koryak person who is a Pacific islander like the live action Aquaman and that even if he is an outlier there is that aquababy who could very much be aged up dramatically for 5G, it kind of made me pull back from thinking Jackson is the next Aquaman.
With Viking Judge, the inspiration is Thor and Brienne of Tarth, Orlando and Sook gave her a pretty good backstory and design just to kill her off in the first issue of a comic, but she's coming back in an issue of Wonder Woman so I guess that's something. I also remember the Odyssey of Amazons comic connecting the Greek and Norse mythology a bit by making Amazons and Valkyrie sisters ...don't really know where Viking Judge would stand in that since I don't think she's a Valkyrie.
Unfortunately you may be right when it comes to Grace Choi, I have no idea what they did or didn't do with character in the new 52, so I'll have to research that but I do know that she has a pretty defining relationship with Thunder and it kind of defines her character, so would DC progress Grace without Thunder ...Idk.
I know for Wonder Woman that they probably want the 5G successor to be a powered up female warrior like Diana is, but whether they want them to be Amazonian, related to a God, non-alien is all up in the air, we have no idea how similar or different they want these 5G characters to be. I have said Artemis seems like a likely candidate but I don't think DC would pick characters who have been Wonder Woman before, the thing is when it comes to Diana her Wonder Woman family isn't that big in comparison to Batman's and Superman's so any character in association with her is the "expected" choice.
You're right tho in saying that "their Trinity branding will definitely have an effect on who their Wonder Woman will be".
I think DC just needs to be creative, maybe bring back some stuff they did and redefine it, there's a couple of things I would like to see back especially after knowing some of these sidekicks are gonna be skipped over.
We know the bat offices are cooking something up for Tim and Steph and that it likely won't be ready until 5G just based on the fact that they're still in planning stages.
But I think when it comes to Jackson and how his likeness/image is associated with Young Justice, I do think he'll be okay. He'll either be 5G Aquaman or he'll be one of the defining leaders/teachers of the Young Justice team; I remember Superlad reminding me that Bendis talked about taking inspiration from the cartoon and so I could very much see it being generational.
In regards to Wallace, I have no clue.
I hope they don't try to put Luke through tragedy, the thing that makes Luke stand out and makes his 5G book appealing to me is that his whole family is alive and not one of them is a villain.
If they want to play up some tragedy aspect they could idk emphasize that despite Luke having a good life, he is a black man who sometimes gets stopped from going into his own home b/c people think he's in the wrong neighborhood, he gets pulled over for dwb (driving while black) and the excuses given are dumb, purses are clutched when he walks by and so he finds reprieve as Batman b/c he can breathe a little easier, walk a little taller, and doesn't have force his presence, his body, his whatever to be less intimidating.
I mean is that not a tragedy in of itself and that definitely would be a different experience to Jon whether Jon had a secret identity or not; and I know Batman/Bruce goes at it with people but who's to say that it won't be the 5G Wonder Woman who's snapping at people.
So they better not kill any of his family members, I don't care if it's not crime related, no deaths.
