DC 5G: the Replacements

Since her creation - and I mean the Og Iris from Earth 22 - it was made clear that she was the one worthy of the legacy.

Weren't they setting Jai up to become the new Turtle? I feel like that would've been an interesting direction to go. We have plenty of sibling rivalry in comics but this would've been a somewhat new twist for the Flash mythos, it would've been an interesting foil for Iry's version of Flash, and it would've provided some great pathos for Old Man Wally too.

They are trying to pull off a new "Silver Age" here but they are going all the wrong way about it. Times have changed, you just can't kick the door and tell people "Jay Garrick is no longer the Flash, meet our new Flash Barry Allen!". Especially if you are doing this in an established universe.

DC hasn't learned ANYTHING from N52. You can't have your cake and eat it. This timeline needs to be burned down completely (with no ties left whatsoever), and start from the stretch. Like, really from the stretch. If you can't commit to that and move on to next generation, then make it a smooth one. Crisis that correctly. Picking random characters is a suicide.

Batman: They keep pushing Foxes for this role and it never works. Either Dick or Tim belongs to this role, no ifs buts.
Superman: Jon's a wooden character. Why not use Steel or Kon? Heck, even Kara is a suitable choice over him.
Green Lantern: It's a massive disservice to Jessica Cruz. I have a feeling that this more has to do with the fact that she's a Johns created character.
Flash: I understand that Wally is "tainted" for the role. They will probably retire him in the next event. But why not Avery or someone that makes sense?
Wonder Woman: I am very curious who will be up for the task. Maybe her rival Aleka from Azzarello run?

Aleka no longer exists as per Rucka's Rebirth run. If we're going for a "burn down this timeline" approach it wouldn't make sense to use her.

Okay, hear me out guys: if there's a time jump for setting up 5G (and there must be), I totally believe Wonder Woman may be Naomi.

Bendis interview I read today was all "editorial asked me something" and lots of mystery and stuff.

Nah, I don't think Naomi will be associated with a previous brand. Bendis, Walker and Campbell want to develop her mythos, not graft it to a larger one, especially one as problematic as Wonder Woman's.

It is possible, however, that Naomi will get a big push and be presented as one of the 5G premiere hero, since she has all the qualities for it, lacking only experience (and a time jump, even of just a few years, would be enough to fix it).

It think it'll be either Deilan or Maggy who will be the new Wonder Woman, and I hope it's the former, if only because I want to see more of the Justice League of China !

I could see it working out more like Ms. Marvel. Naomi might get the name but not the rest of Diana's mythos.

Even though these replacements are considered "odd" keep in mind that so far all the rumors have been from each character's franchise. I don't think they'll just pick some random that has 0 connection to Diana. For the next wonder woman, I think it'll have to be either a demigod or an Amazon. OR someone she's personally trained but we don't really have anyone like that. Demigod or Amazon.

I doubt that Donna or Cassie will get the mantle. Donna is going to be shafted in the upcoming months with this BWL nonsense(not to mention the baggage associated with her eternal identity crisis) and Cassie is on multiversal adventures with YJ.
