Thing is, what good is the nonmutants ‘waking up and making amends’ if, after the post-event status quo shifts, the X-Office either doesn’t let, say, Punisher go through a pack of Purifiers or U-Men; or doesn’t give the non-X books a heads-up before having some atrocity that the nonmutants should have been able to stop committed (let’s be real, between the pecking order ranking of the Avengers at the time and Morrison being Morrison; what are the odds the first the nonmutant writers had of Genosha was after the issue came out?).

And that’s not getting into how the ‘waking up’ or ‘taking down’ is done. Because if the plans basically involve tainting the characters the same way AD/HoM or the Pym Slap did, the writers are either going to pile **** on the X-side or appeal to the Mouse.

But it’s fairly academic at this point. Hickman’s sales are good enough that the only event I see him being roped into in the near future is probably whatever/whenever the Eternals are revived (if only because their more infamous cousin will probably be revived with them, and Death probably has a job for him)
Which is why I've argued for a while now that nonmutant superheroes should've been siding with mutant heroes like the X-Men a long time ago, because it wouldn't take much for non-superpowered humanity to decide that anyone and everyone with powers was too dangerous to exist "unchecked," let alone at all, as events like the original Civil War demonstrated. And if humanity as a whole goes the transhumanist route to the point that they don't need the nonmutant superheroes to protect them from the "big bad scary mutants" anymore . . .

Also felt like it was taping you on the shoulder, and saying "Hey, you remember than Omega mutant definition that we told you about?"

I wonder if the sentinels have ever come across animal like mutations like predator X will they register it as a mutant or are they programmed to targer only human mutants.

If anything tony Stark is the first real homo-novissima. I would say it starts with project rebirth but tony has done so much damage to the mutant race and has reall enhanced his body with technology

Bendis missed a real opportunity to tie Tony Stark's origins to the Wheel/Nikola "Night machine" Tessa. Him being kind of the antichrist in tech-futurist form.

You mean with his attempt at killing the Phoenix Force during AVX that directly led to the Phoenix Five, or the revelation in AXIS that Red Skull had secretly mind-controlled him into building Sentinels with Starktech, or even post-House of M where the pilotable Sentinels "guarding" the X-Mansion were also made from Starktech? That aside, yes, Tony has used various forms of technology to enhance himself, whether by integrating his armor with his body like with Extremis and Bleeding Edge, or even more recently with the experiments on himself that enabled him to survive the beating he got at the end of Civil War II and eventually "reboot" his body and mind, which he also used to revive Rhodey from his death at the beginning of Civil War II, so he could be at least the prototype for "homo novissima." Of course, the recent/current arc of Tony Stark: Iron Man has him questioning (and being questioned on) whether or not he still counts as the "same" Tony Stark he was before, or if he's really a technologically created/enhanced "new" Tony Stark, and if the latter, whether or not that still counts as human.

    We got a new one

WEAPON PLUS: WORLD WAR IV #1

Benjamin Percy (W) • Georges Jeanty (A) • Cover by Kyle Hotz

    WHATEVER KNOWS FEAR!

Biochemist Ted Sallis was developing a serum for military application, but was tragically killed in a freak accident before he could perfect it. Still, the data behind his formula remains property of the United States government and the Weapon IV Program to this day–Mutants aren’t the only ones to have weaponized flora!

Marvel Comics proudly presents a sensational new hero ready to fight back against the new world order! No longer just a man…not a thing…he’s All-American soil and he’s reporting for duty… Benjamin Percy (WOLVERINE, X-FORCE) and GEORGES JEANTY (WEAPON X) introduce…MAN-SLAUGHTER!

Man-Thing is the result of the super-soldier serum interacting with the trans-reality engery of the Nexus of All Realities, its not something you can duplicate unless you're willing to sacrifice the lives of thousands of soldiers in the hopes that one will get the right result.

Another proof that "Marvel vs. X-Men" is the next comic-verse Endgame? Mutants weaponize flora, non-mutants weaponize flora. Mutually-assured omnicide imminent in several years?

Thank GOD for X'97. Cautious about "From the Ashes". Please no more Blue vs. Orange.

Symbiosis. Not an infection! Mankind is blessed above all sentients by the wonderous gift of being able to join in union with the sublime. Evolution is the history of our apprenticeship at his heel. The Sublimation is the loving hand of nature itself. Mutants: Chaotic, spiteful, hateful, offshoots that managed to plant tenacious roots in the soil of the Earth thanks only to their ungodly celestial benefactors, know they have no natural standing with which to stake claim to this world, and they can only yip in jealousy over their impedimenta. (RE: Their 'immunity' to the Sublimation.)

In fairness, superheroes don’t really seem to have been the go-to option for human governments or even Weapon Plus, seeing as most heroes arising out of such efforts either inevitably go rogue (while they might do nothing about the mutants’ overall treatment, the superhero mentality makes them a tad unreliable as front-line goons) or are un-replicatable (and thus failed) prototypes.

The fact that most non-mutant heroes are created by science/magical mishap and such is publicly known reduces the irrational fear among baselines of being replaced with a simmering contempt/envy that they’ll become a new aristocracy lording it over the baselines

I’d say it’s been this and the fact that any gathering of supers tends to be like herding cats (at the best of times) that has both kept them firmly down the to-do list and kept anyone really comparing notes

No. While Feige coming to power over the comics removes the risk of any reckoning being coloured by Ike’s beef with him, neither he or Disney are going to sign off on an event that damages their IP’s as badly as such a war would. And the Non-mutant writers are hardly going to offer up their characters to the slaughter and burn the franchise to the ground at Hickman’s command without making sure to tar the X-Men in the process

Because while in-universe the X-Men have the numbers, power, organisation and de facto immortality to win a drawn out slug match, there’s enough power left on the other side that realistically you’d need to precede/open any war with a massive campaign of assassination and murder against the superheroes and their families. See why the writers And the Mouse might be unhappy?

Good points, actually. Marvel superheroes generally being a fractious lot is probably what's kept them from uniting for or against mutantkind as a collective. Of course, that was also how we got Civil War, Captain America and Iron Man disagreeing on what strategy to employ when registration was being targeted toward anyone with powers, not just mutants --- Iron Man wanted to appease and then reform the registration act from within, Cap wanted to resist it from without (which was prompted in great part by Maria Hill trying to have him arrested for objecting to an act that hadn't even become law yet). Also, since none of the other superheroes could be bothered to raise a voice or a hand in defense when it was only mutants being threatened with registration, the X-Men's retort to that kind of moral myopia was to abstain from taking part in that mess and focus on protecting their own after House of M/Decimation.
