    Default Songs with great basslines

    I feel like bassists in general are underappreciated, even when they provide some of the most killer music. What are some songs with great basslines? Of any genre such as rock, funk, jazz, pop, metal and so on -- what matters is how good the bass is.

    To start, I always did have a soft spot for the bassline in "Would?" by Alice in Chains. It's thick and heavy, and sets the tone very well.

    Another One Bites the Dust - John Deacon bassist and song writer. Inspired by Chic's Some credit Good Times. I like the live version at Wembley better than the studio recording. A lot of Queen works are better heard in a live performance.

    "Silly Love Songs" might seem like a light-weight song, but then listen to that heavy bassline. I can't get enough.

    "La Vie Est Belle (Life Is Beautiful)" by Petite Noir

    It's more low-tempo compared to the other great examples already posted. But I like the way the bassline sits in the mix and grounds the other elements in the song.
