First thing to come to mind bro.

For me, the other is Ronin. Honestly, my eyes rolled when I heard that name. It's like Bendis found the most generic "cool" sounding Japanese/samurai/ninja type name ever for a character. Granted, I like the character, especially Hawkeye's version. But the name is contrived. I'm surprised Bendis didn't go with something like "Seppuku," or "Shuriken."

Shuriken sounds too much like Shuri. Seppuku means suicide. I can see why both of those were avoided.

Yes, I was just thinking Paste-Pot Pete when I saw the thread title.

*Lady* Stilt-Man goes all the way back around the dial to become hilarious.

Well, we all know what happened to the goose that laid the golden eggs, so that's just a bad omen.

Yeah, the modern 3-D Man really took a backwards step when he adopted that name - his previous name Triathlon was much better.

Gorilla Man is exactly what Ken Hale is, a man who has the body of a gorilla. Too on the nose, you think? It does date from the 50s though (as do all of the original Agents of Atlas), and naming conventions were different back then.

Squirrel Girl is supposed to rhyme, but doesn't where I come from! I think that name was deliberately retro?

Big Bertha is a bit dumb yeah, especially since her real name isn't Bertha, it's Ashley. However, the Great Lakes Avengers are supposed to be a joke team, so it does make sense that they have silly names (Mr Immortal isn't that great a name, and Flatman and Doorman sound daft too - Dinah Soar is a clever name for a girl who looks like a pterosaur though).

    Sauron.

I mean, if you're gonna rip-off the name of one of literature's greatest villains, they should at least live up to it. As opposed to being a crazy dinosaur man best known for a meme.
