Default Everyone is a mutant now. What happens?

Let's just say that as a result of something like a mass empowering event or some Krakoa shenanigans the X-Gene has been suddenly awoken in everyone and now everyone is an X-Gene positive mutant. How does everyone react? What will happen to the likes of Orchis and the Purifiers? How about mutants who previously hated humanity or previously held on to Xavier's old dream in one way or another. Will mutant culture still remain if all the humans become mutants as well and keep most of their old values or will humanity assimilate the mutants now that they are the same but former humans outnumber previous mutants? Also, what powers do you think other Marvel characters would/should gain?

This is actually very similar to what happened on Earth-X.

As far as I see, if everyone is turned into a mutant, it will be absolute chaos.
+ I'm pretty sure many new mutants will suicide before living as something they hate.
+ Almost everyone would lose control of their powers and cause death and destruction everywhere.
+ I believe the resurrection chamber of Krakoa would be completely destroyed by the overwhelming number of mutants.
+ Surely, some powerful telepath would appear and discover the truth about Xavier and Magneto's lies, and tell it to the world.
+ Even with their "superior powers", the new mutants would blame the X-Men for runing the world and they would declare war on Krakoa.
+ With more than 6 billion of mutants, Xavier and Magneto won't be able to control them; leaving all life on the planet extiguished by a war of mutant vs mutant.
+ Xavier, Magneto and Moira would realize they have lost again, and they have no one to blame but themselves.

I always thought an interesting storyline would be one where someone like Dark Beast would create a virus that would accelerate the spread of the X-Gene....not necessarily make everyone a mutant....but within 2-3 generations mutants would be 55-60% of the worlds population...however this is not really an altruistic guy so there would be maybe 20-30% of the population would die a horrendous death when exposed to the virus.

He really likes randomly killing people doesn't he.

As for a world of mutants, it's hard to say. The problems with humanity not being a very enlightened or united race would still persist. They still have other reasons to hate each other, some mutants look strange, they might get ostracized for not being the beautiful mutants. Then you have the same skin color racism that has already existed, but now people have powers, and a bullying incident, racist attack, sexual assault, etc... all of these crimes could lead to a lot of death and destruction because people have powers now. Imagine if someone attacks Lorna Dane in her sleep, the panic that she would feel in that moment would probably cause her power to erupt violently and she could easily take out a city block without intending too.

A world with everyone having super powers that is as overpopulated as our world is now, would easily break out into wars all over the place. Because people still crave power over others and they would move to establish their philosophy or religion as the dominant force on Earth. I could see the Christians, Jews, and Muslims going to war with each other immediately to prove who has the most blessings from God. There are extremists in all 3 religions who would love to confirm their belief that God has granted them great powers to bring their interpretation of faith to the entire world. You get Omega mutants spread out all over the world, being used as the ultimate weapons of their people and their faith to bring down the heretics of other faiths.

America would break out in civil war again. The white evangelical Christians would finally believe that the end times have come and they would wage holy war on the sinners of the United States so that they can establish the great theocracy of Gideon at last.

New forms of prejudice will just show up which the XMen have already touched on the subject from time to time. Powerful mutants will start oppressing weaker ones, those who look monstrous will be cast away. Think Emma saying Xavier views telepaths as an elite among mutants, or the Morlocks being outcasts among outcats.

They covered that in the oriinal X-Factor book....they went to an alien planet were everyone had powers...there were the pretty ones (like Jean), the ones with 2 forms (like Bobby), and the 'ugly' ones (like Beast). Even when everyone was powered there was still prejudice...

How would the Avengers react? Think about it, it would make the Hulk even more dangerous, since he'd now have whatever new power Bruce Banner gained. The Inhumans would probably be depowered, as the X-gene and terrigen are incompatible and neutralise each other. Same may well apply for Captain Marvel, since the Inhumans are Kree related, thus the Kree may well have the same incompatibility with the X-gene. If Tony Stark gets mutated, then he could no longer be Iron Man. Of course the villains would be more powerful too. Basically they'd have a bunch of new problems to deal with, and likely be several members down. The Champions would need a new leader, since Kamala's powers would be gone, so they'd definitely be in disarray. The Fantastic Four would probably be concerned with keeping Valeria out of trouble, and if any of them got a monstrous mutation, trying to cure it (likely to no avail, considering Reed's many failures trying to cure Ben). So they'd be out of the fight.

In order for most to happen they'd have to at first he a good number of Mutants who weren't White... Christian...or Pretty... they'd have to be making Mutants non-stop for it to otherwise since it's been 50 years 10 Moiras and the greater world of Mutants still looks like the cast of a CW show lol
