Superman's not in the greatest place right now compared to his other Justice League buddies on screen right now. Batman is getting a new rebooted solo film trilogy with The Batman, two previous versions of Batman (Affleck and Keaton) are showing up in the Flash movie, and even Batman's other archnemesis the Joker just got a billion dollar movie. Wonder Woman has one successful film and another ready for theaters whenever theaters are capable of safely handling big blockbusters again. Aquaman has a successful movie with a sequel and a horror spin off green lit (Aquaman 2, The Trench). The Flash is still getting a movie even if bolstered by two Batmen.
Batman is also getting a Year One GCPD series on HBO Max. Green Lantern is getting some kind of HBO Max show too. And Aquaman is getting a cartoon miniseries there as well.
Meanwhile Superman is getting a show on the rather niche CW, starring Supergirl's somewhat disappointing/divisive/lesser take on Clark, who on top of that is going the Superdad route which again is divisive. Maybe you're a fan of the CW Superman, maybe you aren't but think that he'll fare better in his own show. Maybe you like the Superdad take and are willing to bet that the CW won't mess it up too badly. But no matter how you personally feel about the upcoming show, you have to know that it's not going to take the world by storm or grow the audience very much or whatever. Best case scenario is it manages to do as well as the other CW DC shows like Flash and Supergirl.
But a show doesn't necessarily have to be that low. Stranger Things, the Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, etc. What if Superman got that instead?
Or a film reboot?
Which has a better chance at making Superman relevant again and why and/or how?
