It just occurred to me that in many ways the Children of the Vault have echoes of homo novissima: artificially evolved non-mutant superhumans with a grudge against mutants. Could there be a connection?

Thank GOD for X'97. Cautious about "From the Ashes". Please no more Blue vs. Orange.
Was there not one of the 20 Sinister rumours about 'children'? I remember vaguely, but I remember one of those rumours reminded me of the Children of the Vault.

I always thought the CotV were precursors to the Super Sentinels (e.g., Fantomex, Ultimaton) created in the World facility. Which means that they could all be precursors to the Homo Novissima we saw a thousand years from now in Powers of X. So sure. I think that’s logical.
If anything, Homo Novissima would have come before the Children. Novissima is 1000 years into the future while the Chidren evolved through 6000 years of compressed time. It also seems lile the Children were much more powerful, Serafinas technology allowed her to siphon all the light emitted from the sun and convert it into energy to boost the Beaubiers speed.
Don't know how much of a connection there could be, I remember enjoying the few stories they have but it's been quite a while. Not sure how many of the dots could possibly connect.
Continuity, even in a "shared" comics universe is often insignificant if not largely detrimental to the quality of a comic.
