$951-999 million
$1 BILLION or more
To examine "Joker" against the Superman films adjusted for inflation.
- Superman (1978) : $1.180+ Billion
- Superman II ($537.8+ million)
- Superman III ($154.4+ Million)
- Superman IV ($35.2+ Million)
- Superman Returns : ($497.8+ Million)
Yeah the Joker film seems to be racing along at a good track right now. It passed Suicide Squad in total box office this past weekend.
"The story so far: As usual, Ginger and I are engaged in our quest to find out what the hell is going on and save humanity from my nemesis, some bastard who is presumably responsible." - Sir Digby Chicken Caesar.
“ Well hell just froze over. Because CM Punk is back in the WWE.” - Jcogginsa.
“You can take the boy outta the mom’s basement, but you can’t take the mom’s basement outta the boy!” - LA Knight.
"Revel in What You Are." Bray Wyatt.
If it gets any sort of Awards Traction, Joker should have a long hold and break one billion.
I mean towards the end of the Superman franchise they weren't even trying and this was during a period where sequels rarely made more than the original. Reboots too almost never recapture the same box office as the original.
I'm just not a big fan of this, "Woe is Superman!" mentality concerning Superman films. The first two Superman films are still fantastic and filled to the brim with iconic moments, quotes and characters. It should also be noted that the Joker made more than a bunch of Batman, Iron Man, Captain America films and probably every X-Men film as well.

If (and probably when) Joker beats Deadpool I am sure Arthur will feel he has finally arrived. But the fact that Joker easily beat Superman Returns, Man of Steel and Justice League and may even
beat Batman v Superman worldwide shows just how much WB mishandled Superman movies in recent years.
The concept that Superman movies should all be billion dollar films has actually harmed the franchise. Superman Returns made more money than Batman Begins, but because they overspent thinking the film was going to make at least 800 million, if not more, it flopped. When compared to the other film series Superman Returns had a higher BO than Batman Begins, the X-Men films, all those crappy early 2000 Marvel films. It was beaten only by Spiderman.

Joker has beat Deadpool for worldwide highest R rated movie.
We now have estimates for Joker's 4th weekend.
Joker returns to the number 1 position having dropped only 35% from last weekend. Maleficent dropped almost 50% to land at number 2.
Estimated domestic for Joker is $18.9 million, while Maleficent took in $18.5 million. We'll see if Joker retains the number 1 position when actuals are released tomorrow afternoon.
Joker also took in about $48 million overseas. This brings Joker's worldwide tally to about $850 million.
It needs less than $25 million to top Batman v Superman.
Joker has beat terminator dark fate overseas also. It's still in first in the uk it looks like.

We lost our Mojo. Where's Austin Powers when you need him?
Joker about to reach $900m! It will be the first R rated (well first with inflation anyways) movie to reach that and will beat Spider-Man 3 and man of steel world wide.

I'm surprised. I didn't expect it to make it to 900 million. At this point I'm pretty sure it will hit a billion. Though it will likely take the rest of the year to do it.
The next big movie I think is frozen 2. (not counting the will smith bird movie)As of now Terminator is tanking, Irishman will be on Netflix soon, can't see a huge theater rush on that. Dr. Sleep maybe....
