Better question, why would I care about it?
It's the Dynamic Duo! Batman and Robin!... and Red Robin and Red Hood and Nightwing and Batwoman and Batgirl and Orphan and Spoiler and Bluebird and Lark and Gotham Girl and Talon and Batwing and Huntress and Azreal and Flamebird and Batcow?

Since when could just anybody do what we trained to do? It makes it all dumb instead of special. Like it doesn't matter anymore.

Isn't it too early to say Year of the Villain hasn't caught on yet? Can we really quantify the fact that it doesn't seem to be catching on?

Yeah, isn't November when everything hits the fan and becomes "the day evil won."

You know, like the last time.

That's not the last time. That's at least two or three times ago.
ConnEr Kent flies. ConnOr Hawke has a bow. Batman's kid is named DamiAn.

To do spoiler tags, use [ spoil ] at the start of the sentence and [ /spoil ] at the end, without the spaces. You're welcome!

It's the last time I remember them using that phrase specifically in the promotional material. While I'm sure it happened during Forever Evil, I was a lapsed reader at that point and can't confirm it myself.

Villains should be foils. They should have depth. They need not be redeemed, but they at least should be sympathetic or understandable. Only a few villains can get away with sheer menace, or evilness.

Since we know the villains won't win, we need something to absorb us into the story. Using the villains as foils does that. Extra power does not.

Giving the Rogues powers, for instance, takes away from their every-man status and turns them into gimmicks
I agree on the powers. But I'm not fond of sympathetic or understandable villains - very few should be that, to me. I miss old-school-in-it-for-the-money villains. I do not like woobying, which sympathetic portrayals lead to. More than that, my sympathy dries up very, very quickly if they're hurting people, and it's just an extreme irritation to read the story and think I'm supposed to feel sorry for this murderer. Like I said about Nora-based Freeze - it's good for one or maybe two stories, but then my sympathy has dried up if he's hurting/killing people.

I know they used that "villains only have to win once" thing during the story.

I’ll admit I don’t really care for the premise, but so far the JL title is at least fun and I FINALLY am getting my JSA fix.

This would be good for a three-issue story in the Justice League.
    But not as an event.

And frankly, I'm just tired of DC glorifying the villains.

I was looking to say the same thing.

It's an event, but it almost doesn't feel like one. Almost like a weird lead-up or through-line or tone for DC, like Marvel's "The Heroic Age." And it doesn't help that DC has like three or four "events" going on right now in Doomsday Clock, Event Leviathan, the upcoming 5G, and DCeased (which I know isn't really an event, but it sort of feels like one to me for some reason.) It's not that comics should/shouldn't have multiple things going on, but it feels like there's some clashing headlines and YotV just doesn't stack up for me. It's not to say I'm not enjoying the titles or the concept or anything, it's just not the same.

Absolutely agree with everything you said. Villains aren’t why I read comics.
